Madeira is a paradise on earth. The once volcanic islands create lush and beautiful mountains. The main city on the island - Funchal - is home to 300,000 people whose homes cascade down the hillside into the Atlantic Ocean. Breathtaking, stunning, and one of the most pleasant places you can visit in all of Europe.
The city of Funchal is a mix of colonial style architecture (more typical of Brazil than Portugal) and modern pockets dedicated to the tourism industry. Regardless of where you find yourself, you'll find a beautiful view of the mountains.
This guide is perfect to see the main sites of Funchal. Whether you are stopping on a cruise and only have a day, you are adding a few days on the island to a trip to Portugal, or you are just going for the weekend, this guide provides a bunch of the highlights to be seen in and around the city.

Sabah, on the beautiful island of Borneo, is seriously one of the most underrated places I’ve been to! It’s Malaysia’s second-largest state and shares the island with Indonesia and Brunei, making it a super diverse and interesting spot.
You’ll find everything here—amazing landscapes, unique cultures, and beautiful beaches. It was once known as North Borneo and used to be a British colony in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Sabah finally got self-government on August 31, 1963.
Places you'll visit with this itinerary:
🏙️ Kuala Lumpur
🦧 Sandakan
🛶 Kinabatangan River
🐠 Semporna

A 2-day tour of Manila, the capital city of the Philippines, will provide you with a glimpse of its historical, cultural, and modern attractions. Here's a suggested itinerary for your short stay:
This lively historic city has plenty to see and do, including museums, parks, theaters, shopping complexes, and a profusion of eateries.
Manila, the Philippines' capital, is a heavily populated bayside metropolis on the island of Luzon that combines Spanish colonial architecture and modern skyscrapers. Intramuros, a colonial-era walled city, is the core of Old Manila. The baroque 16th-century San Agustin Church and Fort Santiago, a storied castle and former military prison, can be found here.
Please note that this is a condensed itinerary for a short 2-day visit to Manila. The city has many more attractions to offer, so if you have additional time, consider exploring areas like Chinatown, and Divisoria for shopping, or visiting other museums and parks. Also, be mindful of Manila's traffic, especially during rush hours, so plan your activities accordingly.

Paraty is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, nestled in Brazil's stunning Costa Verde. This charming colonial town boasts cobblestone streets, colorful buildings, and lush tropical surroundings - and it's my favorite town in Rio de Janeiro.
In the late 17th century, Paraty marked the endpoint of the Gold Route, through which gold was shipped to Europe. Its port was crucial for importing tools and African slaves for the mines. The town built a defense system to protect its wealth.
Today, Paraty's historic center preserves its 18th-century layout and colonial architecture, offering a glimpse into its rich past spanning the 18th and early 19th centuries.
With its rich history, vibrant culture, and picturesque coastline, Paraty offers visitors a unique blend of historical exploration, outdoor adventure, and relaxation by the sea.
Explore its well-preserved architecture, embark on boat tours to nearby islands, or simply unwind on its pristine beaches – Paraty promises a memorable experience for all.
In this guide, you'll find recommendations to fill up at least 4 days of your visit, including logistics, accommodations, dining, and of course, you can contact me if you need a personalized itinerary

Colombo might seem like just another chaotic city, but trust me, it's got way more to offer than just traffic jams and busy streets. For the backpacker or solo traveler, Colombo is a treasure hunt with some seriously cool finds.
First off, ditch the idea that the streets are busy. They’re alive! And let me tell you that weekends aren't busy at all!! Wandering around, you’ll stumble upon colorful markets, like Pettah, where you can get lost in a maze of spices, trinkets, and random bargains. It's chaotic, but in the best way possible, perfect for snapping some gritty, authentic travel photos.
If you’re into history, Colombo's got you covered. Check out the colonial vibes at Independence Square or the old Dutch Hospital, now buzzing with cafes and shops. And don’t miss Gangaramaya Temple, it's a mashup of all things Buddhist with a side of quirkiness.
When you need to catch your breath, hit up Galle Face Green. Grab some street food (isso wade is a must-try), find a spot on the grass, and watch the sunset over the ocean. It’s one of those moments that makes all the hustle worth it. Oh maybe hope on a train to watch the sunset while moving.
The best part? Colombo’s a city where you can easily blend in, do your own thing, and still find surprises around every corner. So yeah, it’s worth a stop but it could also be your least favorite city!!? Anyhoo, add these spots to your Google Map, and you’re set for an awesome urban exploration!
This itinerary is completely free for you and if you feel my work has made your journey special, you’re welcome to leave a tip, but no pressure at all!

Ho Chi Minh City, aka Saigon, is Vietnam's largest and most vibrant metropolis. Located in the southern part of the country, it's a bustling hub of culture, commerce, and history. With its impressive mix of modern skyscrapers, historic French colonial architecture, and lively street markets, Ho Chi Minh City offers a dynamic urban experience. If you are planning a trip to this crowded city, refer my articles to consider where to visit. Hope you enjoy your trip in Ho Chi Minh city.

In Guatemala, every day is a new adventure. Picture yourself working from a cozy café in the colonial city of Antigua, surrounded by cobblestone streets and colorful facades. On weekends, you could be hiking up active volcanoes, exploring chaotic local markets, or diving into crystal-clear waters. The country’s diverse landscapes—from rain forests and serene lakes to rugged mountains and black beaches—offer endless opportunities for exploration and inspiration.
This guide is a 1-month itinerary for digital nomads, taking you from Xela, to Lake Atitlán, to El Paredón, and Antigua where you can hike the volcano Acatenango, then pursue your journey north to Semuc Champey and Flores.
I did this trip in May 2023 and would recommend it to everyone. Just an insight in how I build this guide. It is based on my experience, I was traveling with my partner. We were working from Monday to Thursday and would travel in the weekends. I will add the following sign 🏠, to the places we stayed but I will also add a cheaper option and a more expensive option, that I found either on hostelworld, booking.com or Airbnb with good reviews.
Legend:
❤️- Highly recommend (the more hearts the more I loved it)
🏠 - The places I stayed
💻 - Restaurant you can work from
💵= Budget
💵💵 Mid-Budget
💵💵💵High Budget
If you have any question do not hesitate to book a consultancy or send me a DM through instagram: https://www.instagram.com/anywherewithanea/
Also, if you book through the links I added I will earn some commission this will not add costs to you but will give me some extra earnings. Thank you in advance and I hope you will enjoy Guatemala as much as I did.
