Balneario del Escambrón
@juliaschaefer
This beach has calm waters and clean sand, and it's a popular spot for families and snorkelers due to the nearby coral reef. Located next to Luis Muñoz Rivera Park, the beach offers amenities and easy access from the city, Take a nice stroll along with beach and visit Old San Juan before or after.

Tours
Cayo Icacos
@juliaschaefer
We had a beautiful day on our boat cruise to Icanos Island. We ubered to Fajadora from San Juan and it was about a 60 minute drive for $70. The tour I linked below provided us with endless cocktails and lunch. The crew definitely liked to have fun and I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this for younger children. We got to spend about 2 hours out on the island swimming and exploring the beach.

El Yunque National Forest
@juliaschaefer
El Yunque Rainforest was beautiful. We booked our tour through Airbnb and our tour guide picked us up at a designated location a 10 minute walk from our Airbnb. It was about a 50 minute drive to the rainforest and we stopped for snacks halfway. Our guide was great! I recommend walking barefoot because the soil is so good for you ( I know it sounds weird). Our tour guide brought us to a spot where we could slide down the rocks and a second spot that was like a large swimming hole. On our way back we stopped at a local market area and got complimentary lunch and had time so swim at the beach.
I definitly recommend this tour, it was about 4-5 hours, affordable, and the guide was great.

Where to Stay
Our Airbnb was just what we needed. It was in a great location, the host was communicative and it had a pool for us to lay by at the end of the day.
Transportation
We used Uber and never had any problems! They were relatively cheap and everyone was friendly. The city also has different companies with electrical scooters and bikes scattered around so I recommend downloading the applicable apps and riding around the city!
