Ljubljana is the capital and largest city in Slovenia. The Dragon City, which straddles the Ljubljanica River, survived Roman, Habsburg, and Yugoslavian rule to lead the mountainous country into independence. Slovenia has become the Green Heart of Europe, while Ljubljana is one of the greenest capitals on the continent.
This charming city is home to less than 300,000 people. It's a university town, a tech center, and an artist's haven. The Old Town is full of Baroque buildings with red-tiled roofs, detailed bridges, and lively squares. Cafes with terrace seating line the river, which is used by kayakers and sightseeing boats. New hotels, restaurants, and wine bars keep popping up in this car-free area. While Ljubljana Castle stands on a hill overlooking it all.
The compact city is a central base for adventures all over the small country. But best of all: Ljubljana still feels like an under-the-radar destination. Go fall in love with this enchanting city before everyone else catches on.
This detailed guide includes:
Places: neighborhoods
Stay: hotels
Eat: cafés, pizzerias, restaurants
Drink: lounges, wine bars
Shop: antique markets, toy stores

It is impossible not to notice the beautiful architecture of this city and while some buildings were indeed designed by French architects, most of them were built by Romanian architects, educated at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris during its prime decades. The elite was sent to Paris to study and later they returned to Bucharest and brought with them a Parisian lifestyle as well.
In this guide, I share with you some of the places where you can go back in time and enjoy the spirit of the Belle Epoque, see art pieces from past centuries and have a coffee or a delicious meal in between visiting and shopping for vintage items.

Did you know that Minneapolis has a bustling art district? Each May, Art-a-Whirl floods the streets and art buildings to showcase the wonderful art and artists in the Nordeast Neighborhood. Here are my top 5 art buildings to explore. Most buildings are 100+ years old, so staircases are essentials with lots of walking, bad air ventilation, and crowded spaces. At times, it can be freezing cold and rainy. Other times, it can be hot and humid. Plan accordingly, but normally the buildings run hot with little air flow. The buildings are spread out, so plan on walking miles if you want to see many of the buildings. There is a trolley that will take you around the area. Parking can be difficult, so car pool together and make sure you park in an actual parking spot.
There are numerous music events, food trucks, restaurants, and breweries to enjoy! I suggest my favorite Nordeast brewery, Indeed as a place to quench your thirst! They also have a fantastic lineup of local artists all weekend long. These art buildings also host other events during the year. There is usually a mini Art a Whirl in the fall time.

Please enjoy my free guide to the absolutely gorgeous Hokkaido.
We spent two weeks driving around Hokkaido, and have compiled a list of most excellent restaurants, cafes, scenic scenery, and hotels.
TRAVEL TIPS:
Fly from Tokyo (Haneda Airport) to New Chitose Airport (the closest airport to Sapporo, and third largest airport in Japan). It takes less than 2 hours, and since it is a local flight, you only have to arrive 1 hour before you fly out.
I recommend this route over the Shinkansen (bullet train) which will take much longer and will cost more money.
CAR RENTAL:
A free shuttle bus from the airport took us to the car rental location. We drove to Sapporo and stayed for a few days before embarking on this excellent summer roadtrip.
Please note, renting a car in Hokkaido in the wintertime takes an experienced and skilled snow driver, so if this isn't you, I recommend leaving the driving to the summertime.
GUIDE INDEX:
1. Sapporo
2. Furano
3. Niseko

Egypt & Jordan - considered two unbelievable wonders of the world - provide thousands of years of history.
This 14-day itinerary has been put together based on a group trip I led for clients back in 2022. It was my 2nd time to Egypt and my first-time to Jordan - both countries should definitely be visited.
The itinerary is set-up in a way that you could separate out each country if your schedule only allows for minimal travel days. So in essence, you get 2 country itineraries for the price of 1!
Throughout you will experience a dramatic world beyond what you can think, as you enter into two countries filled with legends, history, and indescribable natural beauty.
The itinerary includes a visit to the famous Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx and includes a 4-night Nile River Cruise.
In Jordan, you will visit Petra, the “Rose Red City” that appears as if it emerged straight from the rock bed. Admire the ethereal landscape of the desert city of Wadi Rum, the “Valley of the Moon.” And, indulge at a deluxe spa resort on the Northern shore of the Dead Sea.
We have also added in some key tours, unique experiences and the opporutinity to delve into the culture and flavours of these lands. Hundreds of thousands of years of history and iconic wonders, delicious cuisine, and stretching sunsets fading against the desert horizon – this is Egypt and Jordan.
Note, throughout the itinerary we have listed options available for tours or additional stays to extend your trip and encourage a greater experience and immersion into the countries.

I created this guide for the Airbnb "Hillside Getaway" (link below) with food and outdoor enthusiasts in mind and those wanting to experience the cultural side of Portland.
Although my childhood hometown has changed a lot over the years, Portland is still the vibrant, artsy, cultured city I've always known. The "Rose City" has so much to offer—a great food and music scene, the outdoors, and an independent spirit—surrounded by forests and set between two rivers, the peaks of the Cascades, and the Pacific Ocean. This environmentally conscious city has a good rail system with miles of bike paths and walking trails.
Virtual explorers and trip planners alike, explore Portland with this interactive guide. Check out what to SEE + DO, places to DRIVE + RIDE, and where to EAT + DRINK around this river city in the northwestern corner of Oregon.
This list is far from exhausted and will continue to expand. Click places and links to learn more.

When I say the word “Gettysburg,” what’s the very first thing that comes to mind? I’d be willing to wager that for around 95% of you, you’d say “the battlefield.”
And indeed, the battlefield is a big part of Gettysburg—over 6,000 acres to be exact. However, this charming destination has SO MUCH to offer that goes far beyond the battlefield. It remains one of my favorite mid-Atlantic weekend trips.
This guide aims to hit all of Gettysburg’s historical highlights, while also taking you on some unexpected turns as well.
In this itinerary you'll find:
🍎 Local Farms and Markets
🚲 Fun Activities
🍽️ Restaurant Recommendations
🏛️ Top Historical Sights
🏨 My Top Hotel Picks
---and more---
Time needed: 24-48 hours
(you can hand-pick your favorites for a day trip, or stay the night and hit everything)
Best time to visit: Year round, but April through November is particularly nice
Best suited for: Couples, Girlfriend Getaway, Families, Friends, Solo Travelers
I know you are going to LOVE this Gettysburg Getaway!
