My family and I embarked on an unforgettable road trip last summer (2023). This journey was a dream come true for me, as I had meticulously planned the itinerary several years in advance. One of the absolute highlights was experiencing the majesty of Avenue of The Giants, fulfilling a long-standing desire to behold the towering trees along this stunning route. Our road trip through northern California offered an abundance of awe-inspiring landscapes, from majestic mountains to picturesque beaches. We were able to cross off must-see destinations such as Yosemite, the Redwoods, Lake Tahoe, and Big Sur from our bucket list, and were pleasantly surprised by a few hidden gems along the way.

This guide will be focused on visiting the UNESCO World Heritage city of Berat in Albania. It will include the things I did and where I stayed while I was there, as well as new discoveries and other beautiful accommodation, food, and activities I found while there. It will also include some basics for traveling in Albania such as currency, safety, weather, how to get around etc. Berat is an incredible city with so much beauty. We visited numerous wineries in this area, stayed in a beautiful family run hotel, had incredible experiences with the local people, and overall just loved the vibe of this place! Storytime….back in the late 60’s when my mom was in college, she worked at Jenny Lake Lodge in exchange for room and board and horseback riding on her days off. Fast forward decades later, to my little family’s road trip where we stumbled across this magical place called the Grand Tetons and of course, cozy Jenny Lake. Explore Iceland Ring Road in 5 days. More than 1800 km in less than a week might sound like a challenge when you are traveling with kids but with multiple exciting stops on the way and a good night sleep in between the complaints will be limited.
