Each day of this itinerary is packed with nature-based experiences, including hikes to panoramic coastal views, thrilling water activities, and gorgeous beaches for sunrise and sunset. This itinerary is fully built out so you don't have to plan a thing once you touch down. It includes hotel recommendations, places to eat, drive times and directions, and tours. This itinerary is perfect for the solo traveler, couples, or families with children as there are multiple options provided for the hotels and tours. Be sure to read through all of the notes for the places you plan to visit, as some tourist spots require booking a certain timeframe in advance (such as the USS Arizona Memorial, Diamond Head, and Hanauma Bay Nature Reserve). Looking to stay less than 5 days on the island? This itinerary will still work for you! You can absolutely pick and choose which recommendations to visit whether you want more relaxation or adventure. Looking to stay more than 5 days? Contact me on my Thatch profile or send me an email (michelle@sandmanntravels.com) and I can work with you to build out a longer itinerary based on your unique travel style.

Travel Day - Arrive at HNL

Considering Hawaii is located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, you're probably going to have a long travel day getting to O'ahu. Just use this day to kick back and relax on the flight - catch up on your favorite show, read a good book, or get some work done (or sleep if you're the opposite of me and can actually sleep on the plane 😜).

✈️ Jet lag tips! ✈️

Some of the easiest tricks I use to combat jet lag include:

🥗 When you arrive to your destination (or starting during your travel day), get on the local meal schedule.

🌞 Try to get morning sun in your eyes if you arrive after a red eye flight and want to stay awake, or if you arrive in the evening, watch the sunset to wind down. Getting outside for early morning or late evening sun is a game changer to reset your circadian rhythm.

🚶‍♂️‍➡️Take a long walk outside or get some other movement in when you arrive if you can.

☕️ Avoid caffeine past late morning local time so that you can get a good deep sleep that first night.
