LuĆs I Bridge
@lauriealvarado
I like big bridges and I cannot lie... I love seeing and walking across bridges and this one was one of the best. This double decker bridge can be crossed by foot. The lower deck is open for cars and pedestrians while the upper deck is used for the Porto Metro as well as being open for pedestrians. We started on the Porto side in the Ribeira neighborhood and made our way to the upper deck of the bridge. We crossed on this upper deck where we were treated with a lovely breeze (in August this felt great!) and gorgeous views. When we reached the opposite side in Vila Nova de Gaia, we rode the cable cars to the street level. After exploring Vila Nova de Gaia, we walked along the lower deck to return to Porto. šŸ’”Special tip - this bridge may remind you of another European landmark as it's designer was a student of Gustave Eiffel.

Palacio da Bolsa
@lauriealvarado
The Palacio Da Bolsa was really impressive and I loved our visit there. As you make your way through the building, the rooms, hallways, and staircases are filled with rich architectural elements. šŸ’”Helpful Hints - You can only visit the Palacio by joining a guided tour. - You can purchase tickets at the Palacio and check the times for the tours depending on the language you want.

Parque de Serralves
@lauriealvarado
The Serralves Estate includes a park, modern art museum, villa, and cinema house. Visiting the Parque de Serralves was one of my favorite things we did in Porto. The park is huge and filled with sculptures from all different artists and eras. An entrance to the park also includes entrance to the Serralves Villa which is an Art Deco masterpiece. šŸ’”Helpful Hints - You can purchase a ticket for the Parque de Serralves alone or a combo ticket that includes entrance to the Parque and the Museum. I highly recommend the combo ticket as the Museum has a rotating schedule of unique exhibits. - Be sure to use a map when exploring the park as the works of art are spread out in different areas. Without a map, you may miss something! - The park is easily accessible by public transportation. Directions can be found on the museums website.

Museu de Arte ContemporĆ¢nea de Serralves
@lauriealvarado
Also part of the Serravales Estate, the Museum of Contemporary Art is an amazing collection of permanent and rotating exhibits of important artists both past and present. What I loved about the museum is that each exhibit was truly one of a kind and many were interactive. As a lover on contemporary art, I was blown away and my husband, who isn't the biggest fan of modern art, also thoroughly enjoyed himself. šŸ’”Helpful Hints: - When buying your ticket be sure to buy the combo which include the Park and the Museum. - Check the Museum's websites to see if any events are being held during your visit. In addition to the art exhibits, the Museum hosts cultural events throughout the year.

Parque das Virtudes
@lauriealvarado
A pretty park with many different levels. Porto is a hilly city, and if you must make your way up or down, you might as well do it while surrounded by some nice greenery and pleasant views.

Church of St. Francis
@lauriealvarado
A visit to the Church of St. Francis includes a visit to the Dispatch House of the Order, the catacombs and the magnificently gilded church interior. The Church of St. Francis is worth a visit to see the mixture of Gothic and Baroque elements in this UNESCO World Heritage site.
