What people say

"This is the most famous villa in Lake Como so get ready for the crowds or try to go at the opening time! :D HOW TO GET to Villa Balbianello: First you have to reach Lenno/Tremezzina town with the public boat (ferry). From the pier you can get there by foot (walking on a 1 km footpath which starts from Via degli Artigiani) or by a taxiboat that leaves from the Lenno beach (€7.5 for the roundtrip). I higly suggest you this second option for the unique scenery you will experience! "Located on a wooded promontory at the tip of the Lavedo headland, staring amidst Tremezzo and Bellagio, this unique 18th-century mansion provides the most stunning views of the western shore of Lake Como. Balbianello's last owner Guido Monzino - collector and explorer with expeditions to Patagonia, Equatorial Africa, Greenland, North Pole, and Himalaya - choose the villa to preserve the memories of his adventures. Balbianello's museums and sprawling magnificent gardens - which have hosted writers, travelers as well as several movies i.e. Star Wars Attack of the Clones and 007 Casinò Royale - are open to the public every day from March to January, except Monday and Wednesday. You can also enjoy a private “out of hours” guided morning tour - and the evening one during sunset time - or for the lovers of gardens and topiary, live the incredible winter large prunings. The Villa can be reached on foot or by taxi boat from Lido di Lenno. "
"This historic mansion overlooking the lake in Lenno was featured in Casino Royale. The sloped gardens are filled with sycamore and pine trees, and the azaleas and rhododendrons are in full bloom during the spring and summer. Visit on your own or book a tour to explore the villa and stroll along the shaded path that leads back to Lenno. Accessible by ferry (stops in Lenno) and then shuttle service, or by taxi boat. Some boats tours stop by here as well. Open rom 10 am to 6 pm. Last entrance to the Garden at 5 pm. Last entrance to visit the interiors of the Villa, with a 60 minutes guided tour, at 4.30 pm. Tickets: $12 (self-guided), $25 (guided tour) Booking in advance recommended."
