A Budgeted Weekend in Milan and Lake Como
Day One:
Milan
There is a common stigma around Milan that you can’t enjoy it’s true magic unless you’re willing to spend thousands. And yes, Milan tends to be pricy, but it is still possible to enjoy the things that Milan has to offer while on a budget.
We also believe that it is hard to spend more than two or three days in Milan without getting bored. This guide offers activities that are either free or rather inexpensive, and offer a true taste of Milan’s culture.
When we traveled to Milan, we simply wanted to do three things: see the sights, indulge in the food, and spend one day at Lake Como. We arrived in Milan on a Friday afternoon and checked into our hotel right away. We were able to splurge a bit on a hotel as we had points that needed to be spent. Although if you aren’t in the same situation, Milan has a variety of hostels that are available on Hostelworld for €40-70/night. We agreed that only two nights in Milan are needed.
Upon arrival, we recommend taking the night to explore the city. Milan is equipped with a very convenient and efficient metro system, which we used to travel almost everywhere. Two day metro passes are available for €19, and three day passes are available for €21.
