"Tamarindo is nice but very touristic and a little more expansive. We stayed 2 nights there and changed between pool and beach. You also can rake surf lession or just rent a surfboard. It is also possible to go snorkling, watch crocodiles oder watch turtles (depending on the season). We stayed in ā€šLa Botella de Lecheā€˜ a really nice hostel with a great pool and they offer all the tours and surf lessions. They also have a small gym where you can train by your own or book yoga classes or a massage."

"An upscale beach town that will have you feeling right at home. Tamarindo misses the mark on Costa Rican authenticity, but it has great restaurants, night life, shopping, a beautiful beach, and it's the perfect spot to take a surfing lesson! Go for the day, but be sure to stay to catch the sunset. There are plenty of cafes and boutiques in this town that you won't want to miss!"

"Tamarindo is a big mix of everything on the northwest coast. It's the biggest beach town, and the most developed. You can find all types of rental properties and you don't need a car. I would recommend having a car if you live in Playa Grande to the north or Playa Langosta to the south."
