Logan Faure
"Shelter is always on everyone's list, and for a reason. The ambiance is great, the staff is always welcoming, and they're continually striving to improve. The open kitchen itself is a show (if you're alone or a party of two, I recommend booking the small counter table above the open kitchen). The food is delicious and, somewhat rare in Bali, consistent. I mean, the chef is Stephen Moore, so obviously, it has to be good. Their signature dishes are always the ones made on the impressive wood grill. To have the best experience at Shelter, here's how you should order: Start with a nice glass of wine paired with the olives and mandarin peel along with oven bread spread with za'atar. Then, share a couple of starters like the heirloom tomatoes, stracciatella, wood-roasted scallops, or ash-grilled calamari. For mains, go with the crusted chicken or pumpkin and Spanish mackerel. Skip dessert and head to Ettore Gelatto, a short walk next door, to digest a bit before grabbing two scoops of ice cream—one dark chocolate and one oat milk."
"Don't forget to sip Shelter's famous cocktail. In Pererenan, dining at night has never been better! "
