24 hours in Seville
Guide
10.30am: Plaza de España
Start your day here with a casual stroll before the tour bus crowd gets in. Look out for the one-of-a-kind artworks of the different Spanish cities made from tiles.
11.30am: Real Alcaczar de Sevilla
There are too many photos to choose from this place! We spent more time than we thought we would because it was so beautiful. We couldn't help but stop in every room to appreciate the intricate details, manicured gardens and tilings. The palace is massive, with lots of smaller breakout gardens to explore and take shade in when it got too hot. We found the crowd manageable with plenty of space for everyone despite it being a peak day when we went, which made it an enjoyable experience.
The best part of the palace was the jardin (garden) at the back. It was one of the most memorable gardens I have been to that had a beautifully designed maze-like garden.
We spent most of our time exploring the front part of the palace and wished we saved more time for it. We were tired by the time we got to the jardin, so definitely allocate enough time to explore this place.
Top Tip: Book your tickets online!
We booked our tickets before arriving and were glad we did. You don't need to book that far in advance either. There was a long queue of people especially towards the afternoon when we left and the last thing you want to do in summer is be waiting under the hot sun to get in. Skip paying additional for the upper rooms. General admission is sufficient and still covered a lot of ground.
2pm: Lunch at La Sacrista Tapas
An accidental find that turned out to be probably one of the best meals I have ever had in Spain. Fun fact: each city in Spain has their own local specialty dish. So don't miss out on trying out one of Seville's local dishes - pork cheeks(pictured below), oxtail or gazpacho. Once you leave, you won't get the opportunity again.
4pm: Ice Cream - Gelateria Mio
I love finding the best ice-cream places on my trips and no summer day trip is complete without an ice-cream. On your way to Torro del Oro, stop by this gelateria for ice-cream.
5pm: Plaza de Toros
For an educational tour on a uniquely Spain's activity - Bullfighting , head over to Plaza de Toros. All tickets come with a guided tour where you can learn about the history of bullfighting and the arena. We learnt a lot of fascinating facts through the guided tour.
Bullfighting still happens here today. If you would like the full Spanish experience, don't forget to check the bullfighting schedule.
(Optional) 8pm: Las Setas
If time permits, I would suggest ending your day at Las Setas. This architecture is really special amd though the price is a bit overpriced. You can choose to enjoy it for free on the ground or if you want to make the most out of your paid ticket, go up during sunset when it is much cooler with better views. There is also a nightly light show if you are there at night.
