The gardens of Pitti palace which were originally was a Medici palazzo. Entrance fee. It is really large and a place to take your time to visit.

The rose garden is not always in bloom, but is a lovely space to visit anyway with great views of the city. Some art work and benches to stop and enjoy.

EdV a Garden with a View

This is the private garden of the artist Alice Esclapon de Villeneuve ( EDV). There are guided tours available or you can simply pay the entrance fee and explore on your own.

Located on the right hand side of the Piazzale Michelangelo. Irises planted among olive trees. The iris is the symbol of Florence, il Giglio.

This magical spot is the upper part of the Boboli gardens, at the Fortezza di Belvedere.
When the Wisteria is in bloom it's a favorite stop for locals as well. There is a lovely garden bar for a snack as well.

This is located a few blocks up from the train station.
The third Sunday of the month, and the Saturday before the piazza hosts a wonderful antique market.

This small park is in the San Frediano area of town in the oltr'arno. It actually is where part of the old city walls are.
Several cute trattoria's and a lovely gelateria in the piazza and also across the street.

Built along side the road to Piazza Michelangelo are a lot of small patches of parks. Created when they rebuilt the city in the late 1800's.

There are a couple of bars( il Tempio and Dogana Beach) located in this park and in summer at the end of the park is another with street food stands, called il Molo.

Mostly I go here in the summer as it's an outdoor bar with events. But there are events yearlong, theatre etc. On the grounds is also a design institute.

Above Piazzale Michelangelo there are several places to visit. It's a nice walk. The fort, church, cemetery and gift shop run by the monks.
You can take the bus up to the Piazzale and then walk back down.

If you are heading up to visit Fiesole, this is down below on the way up to San Domenico and then Fiesole is at the top of the hill. Check their schedule for dining. Usually open for lunch on the weekends. But mostly dinner.

Farms in Florence?
Crazy but yes. On the hills just above Poggio Imperiale at the southern outside area of town, is the farm. They have a butcher shop in town and another shop with their products for sale and now this restaurant.

I have been to the restaurant at the mothership. the Borgo San Pietro Hotel south of Florence. They have their own farm and this restaurant features their own produce and products from the estate.
