"Nugolo is a woman-led restaurant founded in 2019 and located in Florence’s Sant’Ambrogio neighborhood serving delicious, carefully-prepared, creative Italian food. They don’t limit themselves to the relatively short repertoire of Tuscan dishes, but rather take inspiration from all over the country, and all over the world. The name “nugolo” comes from a specific variety of tomato that grows in a bunch.
You can order à la carte from a reasonably-priced menu, or choose a €60 or €80 menu. The theme of the restaurant is tomatoes, and any dish featuring them is highly recommended. Also consider ordering:
pork terrine with panzanella and gazpacho;
64°C-cooked egg with pea foam, salt-cured shallot, daikon, and egg bottarga;
black tea and juniper berry-infused fusilloni pasta with rabbit meat sauce, pecorino cheese cream, olives, and Aleatico wine reduction;
carro and ginger “carrot cake” with citrus geleé, yogurt, and yellow tomato chutney;
guinea fowl, escarole, caper mayonnaise, and a hazelnut and liver “rocher”.
Wine lovers will be very intrigued by their wine list, featuring big, well-known labels as well as small, independent producers from all over the country.
This is a great spot for an intimate dinner with friends or a romantic dinner for anyone curious to enjoy a more contemporary spin on traditional flavors."
