4D3N Slovenia Highlights

Charmaine
I visited Slovenia in October and spent the most magical 4D3N wrapped in the hues of a perfect autumn. Mother Nature unveiled her splendour, creating numerous experiences that left me spellbound. The warmth of Slovenian hospitality was a hug to my soul, and we connected with the locals who were full of genuine kindness. Our journey was a feast for the senses, with every meal an exquisite symphony of flavours, each dish telling a story of freshness and culinary mastery. As you embark on your Slovenian adventure, let this curated itinerary be your compass to the wonders that await. For those yearning for more, feel free to reach out, and I'll craft a detailed masterpiece for your extended exploration. May your trip be as enchanting as the memories I hold dear! 🍂✨

Accommodation

Apartment Nija App 1 hosted by Bostjan & Klavdija
@cpohsx
Hosts are extremely hospitable and give the most amazing recommendations for what to see and do in Bled! If you have a smaller party of travellers, the hosts have a smaller apartment unit just right next door which you can also book through Airbnb. Sauna is available on-site, and the hosts have a beautiful garden with all kinds of fruits and vegetables imaginable. There's a very friendly cat that roams around the neighbourhood as well!

Day 1

Consider doing a day tour from Ljubljana to visit the cave and castle so you don't have to deal with city parking. Alternatively, skip the day tour to stay in the city and enjoy a free walking tour.

Drive from Ljubljana to Bled for about 45-60mins, 50km away. Suggest to drive out from the city in the late afternoon so you're in Bled bright and early to start the next day.

Day 2

Soteska Vintgar
@cpohsx
Start your day early to beat the crowds and enjoy the hike with nice cool weather! You get tons of amazing pictures without many humans spoiling your shots if you start early enough. Entry is chargeable and you'll need to get a ticket online for about EUR 10. Parking costs EUR 5. The hike is 1-way only (no turning back), so you'll need to take the gorge shuttle back to the starting point for your car, this was EUR 6 per person.

PLETNA BOAT CRUISE TO THE ISLAND BLED

Boat ride costs about EUR 15 per person. Boat schedules are a bit spotty so just hang around for a bit and you'll depart as soon as the boat is full

Assumption of Maria Church
@cpohsx
Fees are required to access the church and clock tower. We didn't pay for this and took a walk around the outer ground instead, there was more than enough to see and photograph! Take note if you have mobility issues as there were quite a number of steps to climb just to get to the top.

Old Cellar Bled
@cpohsx
Had one of the most scrumptious meals in Bled here - We had the foamiest mushroom soup, a succulent, fall-off-the-bone serve of pork shank, crispy pan fried seabass, a fresh chicken salad, and ended the meal with a decadent chocolate lava cake. The rich-tasting wine provided a wonderful balance to our dinner as well. Dinner cost us about EUR 30 per person, such great value for the amount of food we consumed!

Day 3

Vršič Pass
@cpohsx
For the driving enthusiast, this spot is for you. Counting over 50 hairpin turns and sitting at 1.611 m above sea level, this is the highest mountain pass in Slovenia. Not for the faint hearted definitely! Beware of bad weather conditions ahead of your drive, make sure to check local weather reports and road conditions before you embark on the drive.

Lake Jasna
@cpohsx
Enroute to the Vršič Pass, you'll come across Jasna Lake. The lake is an artificial one, if you can believe it! The lake still looks very beautiful despite being artificial, and we spent quite a bit of time here taking photos of the beautiful alps in the distance. Take the time to walk around the pier and climb up the high viewing platform if you dare.
