1. Escargot Pistache Chocolat  - €3.95

Du Pain et des Idées' pistachio escargot pastry with gooey chocolate chips is a delectable delight. Imagine a flaky, buttery spiral adorned with generous amounts of rich, melted chocolate chips, harmoniously complementing the velvety pistachio filling.

2. Escargot Rhum Raisin - €3.60

This delightful pastry combines the best of both worlds—flaky, buttery layers reminiscent of classic French croissants, filled with rum-soaked raisins and topped with a heavenly vanilla cream

3. Chocolatine - €1.95

The bread itself is a masterpiece—remarkably buttery, exquisitely sweet, and irresistibly moist. With each bite, it practically melts in your mouth, offering a rich, indulgent experience that is second to none.

4. Croissant - €1.20

Croissants are aplenty in France. But in my opinion, La Maison d'Isabelle has one of the best in Paris. Indulge in the award-winning croissant from Maison d'Isabelle, the proud recipient of the prestigious 2018 Best Croissant Prize in Paris.

Needless to say, their croissants are not to be missed. The buttery and delectable aroma wafts through the air the moment you step out of the metro. Another honourary mention includes the Vanilla Tart, which was a sweet and creamy treat that we really enjoyed as well.

5. Hot chocolate (Angelina) - €5

Angelina is renowned for its delectable hot chocolate, and stunning tea room.

💡 TIP: Enjoy yours at a lower price by opting for a takeaway instead of dining in. While it's originally 8 euros to sip in the cozy ambiance of their tea room, grabbing it to go will only cost you 5 euros.

Take your steaming cup of velvety goodness and head over to the stunning Jardin des Tuileries. Find a cozy spot amidst the picturesque landscapes, whether it's on a bench or under a shady tree. Now that's a true experience in itself!

Thick, rich, and absolutely divine. The hot chocolate is served with a generous side of fresh whipped cream that allows you to sweeten the beverage to your liking. While you're at it, do try out some of their gorgeous pastries as well. Their fig jam is also one of the best I've had, and pairs beautifully with cheese.

6. Babka Roll Pistache Fleur d’oranger - €4.40

Originating from Eastern Europe, this sweet bread-like pastry is traditionally made by layering dough with various fillings, creating a swirl of flavors and textures. It's like a heavenly cross between bread and a cake, and it's utterly irresistible.

💡 TIP: Take your Babka Zana and head over to the stunning River Seine, near Pont d'lena. Find a cozy spot with a view of the Eiffel Tower and enjoy your warm treat.

8. Nutella Crepe - €4

Indulge in a taste of pure bliss with the Nutella crepes from Chez Alain Miam Miam, a hidden gem nestled within the vibrant Marché des Enfants Rouges in the trendy Le Marais neighborhood's 3rd arrondissement.

💡 TIP:  A hack to skip the queues would be to come at 8:50 am, right before their opening as a queue quickly forms even before their opening at 9. Trust me, you’ll want to spend your day strolling the streets of Paris than waiting 2 hours in line for a crepe!

 9. Savoury Crepes - €10.5

I know this guide is supposed to be below €5 but these savory crepes are a mouthwatering exception to the budget rule, as they are generously stuffed with an array of ingredients that will satisfy both your taste buds and your wallet. If it fits your budget, do check out Chez Alain Miam Miam's other store, for more of their gastronomical offerings.

If the queue is too long, they have a boutique just outside the market too which tends to have a shorter queue.

10. Lemon sugar crepe - €4.70

💡 TIP:  Enjoy your crepe outdoors! The terrace of La Creperie provides a serene and picturesque setting, allowing you to savor your treat while being captivated by the iconic Pantheon.

While the crepe itself may not boast extravagant flavors, its soft and fluffy texture brings a sense of comfort and satisfaction. What truly sets this experience apart is the captivating view of the Pantheon from the terrace.

11. Brie de Meaux - €3

(150g x €19.85/kg)

The Brie de Meaux, hailing from the historic region of Meaux, embodies the essence of the French cheese-making tradition. As you take your first bite, prepare for a flavor explosion. The velvety texture melts in your mouth, releasing a rich buttery taste that is simply divine.

Here's where to get your cheese fix:

La Fermette
@Voyagewithmc
La Fermette boasts an impressive variety of cheeses that will make your head spin (in a good way!). From creamy Bries to pungent Roqueforts, they have it all. And the best part? They encourage you to sample their cheeses and provide personalized recommendations based on your taste preferences. It's like having your own cheese sommelier!

12. Comte 12 months - €3.4

(150g; €22.85/kilo)

One cheese you absolutely shouldn't miss is the Comté aged 12 months. It's the crème de la crème, the king of all French cheeses. But don't worry, it's not overpoweringly strong. With its nutty and slightly sweet flavors, it strikes a perfect balance that will leave you craving for more.
