An Alternative Weekend in London 🇬🇧
Day 1 Itinerary
I’ve split my food and activity recommendations into separate parts for easy screenshotting 📸 #you’rewelcome
Where To Eat
Breakfast
📍 Dishoom (They have 6 locations across central London)
💵 $$
🗒️ Indian might not be the first cuisine that springs to mind for breakfast, but there’s a reason Dishoom is famous for it. Make sure you try their Masala beans and indulge in their unlimited chai!
Lunch
📍 Kappacasein Dairy @ Borough Market
💵 $$
🗒️ This stall on the outskirts of Borough Market makes the best cheese toastie in London. Their raclette is also to-die-for too and a lot more filling than you’d expect!
Dinner
📍 Duck & Waffle
💵 $$$
🗒️ Located 40 floors above London’s bustling business district, the incredible views from this restaurant are worth every cent. Make sure you book your spot in advance, or take advantage of their 24/7 opening hours to pop in for a midnight feast.
What To Do
📍 God’s Own Junkyard
💵 Free
🗒️ It’s hard to believe that this Neon Narnia is completely free! It’s a bit further out of the centre than other attractions, but well worth the visit to gaze upon 600+ neon signs.
📍 St Dunstan in the East Church Garden
💵 Free
🗒️ This little oasis in the heart of London is the perfect spot to take a breather. The church was largely destroyed in WW2 and it’s walls are adorned with strings of ivy and other gorgeous greenery.
📍 The Vaults
💵 Various Prices
🗒️ Known for its immersive theatre experiences and alternative art exhibitions, The Vaults is a venue unlike any other. Even if you can’t catch a show here, it’s well worth a visit to wander through a maze of abandoned railway arches and check out the ever-changing graffiti on Leake Street.
Day 2 Itinerary
Where To Eat
Breakfast
📍 Peggy Porschen
💵 $$
Lunch
📍 Padella
💵 $
🗒️ Don’t let Padella’s infamous queue deter you, it really is worth the wait. This pasta bar serves 8 handmade seasonal pasta dishes daily along with a delicious array of wines. Make sure you join the virtual queue to secure your spot!
Cheeky Afternoon Snack
📍 Creme
💵 $
🗒️ If you’re looking to indulge in the most ooey gooey cookies you’ve ever tasted, come to Creme. Their Miso While Chocolate cookie is my all-time fave, and I never pass up an opportunity to sample their rotating range of new flavours.
Dinner
📍Supper Club Tube
💵 $$$
🗒️ Eating hot food on the tube is deeply frowned upon… unless it’s a 6 course Latin American meal with new friends. The Supper Club Tube brings together people from all walks of life to enjoy a gourmet feast together!
What To Do
📍 The Barbican Conservatory
💵 Free
🗒️ This stunning conservatory is the second largest in London and completely free to visit (just make sure you book in advance or the morning of). Even if you’re not a plant aficionado, you’ll be amazed by how lush and beautiful they all are.
📍 Backyard Cinema
💵 $$
🗒️ This themed cinema will transport you into another reality the moment you step inside. I’ve walked into Narnia and been transported inside the genie’s lamp in Aladdin and can’t wait to visit again.
📍Books for Cooks
💵 Various Prices
🗒️ This unique bookstore houses thousands of cookbooks and features a cafe which serves recipes from the cookbooks on sale. If you’re lucky enough to drop by on a launch day, you’ll be able to savour recipes from the cookbook being whipped up by professional chefs!
