Torino in one day

Torino in one day

Manuel Jerez
In this guide I will guide you through Turin, a city where I lived for 5 months and the first capital city of Italy, in just one day; to let you have a good overview of the city.

Starting around 10am in Porta Nuova station, maybe the first thing to do could be grabbing an italian capuccino with a cornetto. For me, the best place I could recommend is below this text, but on Via Mazzini, the street where I used to live during my time in Turin, you can find some other great places to start the day.

Walking down the street you'll find Chiesa di San Massimo, and then you will get to the Po Fiume, crossing most of the italian northern regions.

Then it will be time to start walking to the center of the city, arriving in Piazza Vittorio Veneto. If you want, you can cross the bridge to visit Chiesa Gran Madre di Dio, and go up Monte Cappuccini, to get the best views of the city.

Come back to Vittorio Veneto and start walking along Via Po, one of the main streets of the city, with plenty of shops to buy souvenirs, but also books or posters. Only leave this street to visit the symbol of the city, Mole Antonelliana.

Keep walking through Via Po to arrive to the main place of the city, Piazza Castello. Here, you will find Palazzo Madama, Palazzo and Giardini Reali, and the Cathedral of the city. The Cathedral might not be the best in Italy, but it keeps the Holy Shroud. If you want, you can visit both palaces inside.

If you really like to visit churches, I will recommend you the best of the city, Basilicia Santa Maria Ausiliatrice, keeping the body of San Juan Bosco. It is a bit far from our tour, but it is clearly the most beautiful in Turin. Also, on the way to that church, you will find Mercato Centrale.

If you decided to continue the tour, let's head to Via Roma, and enjoy (and maybe buy in) all the luxury shops in that street; until you arrive in Piazza San Carlo. A few meters away from there it is the Egyptian Museum, one of the biggests in the world, which might be worth visiting if you like history.
