London Restaurants Map: from a local and for all budgets✨

As a foodie and person who worked in restaurants for 6 years, I love discovering new places, especially in London where you can find all kinds of cuisines. 😋 This is a list of my favourites and I will keep adding to it as I keep trying new restaurants, it has all the budget ranges, so you can pick the one that fits your needs the most. ✨ 🪙Low Budget: Up to £15pp 👛Budget: Up to £35pp 💸Pricey: Up to £150pp ✨Michelin: at least one star When I refer to these prices, I have in mind a main with tap water for the low budget, while for the others it would be a nice meal, including a drink, starter and/or dessert. I have never been to a Michelin-star restaurant, but I've added the ones I would love to try to the list. On each restaurant tab, I will give you my own opinion and what you can expect, so that it is easier for you to understand the best option.

🪙Low Budget

These will mostly be chains as they can offer cheaper prices, but there are some independent restaurants too. Even with a low budget, I do not compromise the quality and I wouldn't suggest a place I wouldn't return to.

Wok To Walk
@yourfriend_chichi
It's a big chain but the quality is so good. What I love the most is that we can personalise our noodles with the sauces and toppings we like. And depending on what you choose you can get it below £10 which is amazing. The restaurants are usually small and with not many seats, but I've always managed to get one somehow or had my meal in some iconic places such as Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square or Piccadilly Circus. My favourite sauce is the Hong Kong one which is sweet and sour and I then add more soya sauce which they offer for takeaways too.

Ji Chickens
@yourfriend_chichi
This is a fried chicken shop where you can get bubble tea too. It is so popular that you will probably have to wait at least 20/30 minutes, but it is worth it! The chicken is so tender and crunchy, you can choose your flavours and the price is not bad to be in central London.

Chinatown Bakery
@yourfriend_chichi
If you are in Chinatown you must buy something in this bakery! Every time I pass by it, I get something to snack on or to bring home as dessert, I LOVE it! The creamy fried Taiyaki are so good and made on the spot, so be careful before biting into it! I've tried most of their products and they are so good and well-made. You may find a long queue, it really depends on people and on the time, but trust me - the prices/quality ratio is super worth it!

Marugame udon/ 丸亀製麺 Oxford Circus
@yourfriend_chichi
Found this chain after my trip to Japan and I must say, it is quite good and unexpected! Depending on what you order the price could be more 'expensive', but I've also paid under £10 with a main and tap water. It will depend on your taste and stomach basically. The quality of the food is good, you can choose your udon positions and flavours. They also have fried chicken and vegetables.

Pizza Pilgrims Covent Garden
@yourfriend_chichi
Italian restaurants are usually more expensive in London, especially if they use top-quality ingredients. This pizzeria will give you good quality price pizza and most of the time people working there are Italians.

Chopstix - Oxford Street
@yourfriend_chichi
It's a big chain, a fast food style and you will not see typical Asian recipes, but it does the job. Especially if you are shopping around and need a break, it is perfect. Good portions and quality. You will need to choose your base which can be noodles or rice and then add the toppings, there is also the option to get just the sides if you'd like. It is perfect for a quick meal.

Young Cheng Buffet|陽城小菜馆
@yourfriend_chichi
If you are in Chinatown, don't have much budget and starving, this is the place to go. They will try saying they accept only cash, but if you insist they will take the card too. It's a buffet and most people go there for their shrimp as it's a very good deal for that money, but overall getting a full mean including fruit at the end, with those portions and price is just perfect and you will not find anything like this in other parts of the city. The fried dishes are a bit too oily for my taste, but the rest is good. As with every buffet, you will need to pay for your drinks and you pay for everything upfront. They also do take away, but I don't think is such a good deal in that case. It's not aesthetic at all, but when you are on a budget and hungry it does the job.

Markets

Markets are in between the low budget, and sometimes they can be a bit more pricey. The very good thing about markets is that you have a wide variety of places to choose from, so you can pick the best for your taste and wallet, or even pick different ones if you are with more people.

Camden Market
@yourfriend_chichi
I love Camden and having this market there it's just perfect for lunch after walking around! You can find all sorts of cuisines, and some of them even let you try some bites before buying, so basically free starters. Spring and summers are the best times to be in there, but also the busiest, so you will probably struggle to find a seat and might have to sit near the river - what a problem right? Recently they've added two buildings with extra restaurants and cafes, one is between the station and the market, and the other one is just in front of it,

Borough Market
@yourfriend_chichi
The Borough Market is famous for offering a diverse range of gourmet food stalls, from fresh produce and artisanal cheeses to international street food and speciality ingredients. When I think about this place I imagine cheese and wine vibe,

Spitalfields Market
@yourfriend_chichi
This market is so cute but a bit more pricey and the shops around are big brands or independent ones. Overall the market gives me a more sophisticated vibe. The people who come there are ok with spending extra and having good quality. There are so many food places here, that you will struggle to choose one! I always come back and try a different one based on what I feel at the moment and I would recommend doing the same. If you love Matcha, you should try Jenki with their special flavours and desserts.

👛Budget

These restaurants will give you a more relaxed experience. They will all be with table services and you can sit for you will sit for your meal for at least one hour. One of those meals you share with a friend or partner while having a nice chat and quality time together.

Sartori - Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria
@yourfriend_chichi
Eating Italian in London is always expensive, but I must say, this is my go-to restaurant when I want to have a nice Italian meal without feeling guilty about the price. The quality is good, they do a full Italian selection of pizzas, pasta and mains, which is so convenient when we are a group of friends with all different preferences. What will count more on your bill will be the wine, so if you need to keep it low you could go for water or a single drink instead of bottles. I always go for different mains and starters, but for dessert, I love their pear and chocolate cake, I would go there just for that to be fair. It's that good.

Mowgli Street Food
@yourfriend_chichi
I first tried the one in Leeds and always said we needed one in London, so when I found out they opened one I had to try, and I must say that I love it. Not only the location is so pretty, but the food is something else. Even my partner, who is such a picky person, loves it. The chaat to start is a must and then just pick different dishes to share so you can try the different flavours. One tip about indian cuisine in case is your first time, don't combine it with wine. I'm a wine lover, but the flavours don't go that well together. Instead, I usually go for cocktails and ask the waiters what they suggest.

WooJung 우정식당
@yourfriend_chichi
This is the BEST Korean restaurant I've tried so far. It is inside a convenience store and it is very small, so you may find a very big queue. It is very famous as Jennie from the Black Pink went there to eat and posted very nice things on her social account, but it was very popular even before! It is very tiny, but packed with many people working, so an empty plate will be on your table for a very little time. The service was very quick, but not pushy, until the end, when they brought the bill without us asking for it. To be honest, we didn't mind, as we didn't feel pushed out and I still finished my drink with my own time before we left. The food is TOOOOOP! We had BBQ Beef Bulgogi, rice, Kimchi and pork in a lettuce wrap, everything was so amazing! The lettuce was so fresh, and the food felt so light and kind of homemade style, rather than heavily processed restaurant food. We really felt we were in someone's house, with very typical flavours. If you'd like to get alcoholic drinks, you will need to buy them from the market and then pay extra to be allowed to drink them in the restaurant (it's about their licence), so I asked the waiter what non-alcoholic drink would be suitable with the food we were having. He said to try the plum juice and I was so shocked as it was a perfect combination! I would 100% come back there and can't wait to try more dishes!

Tokyo Diner
@yourfriend_chichi
This place is like an oasis that brings you to Japan. The quality is good, the portions are big and I sometimes had to take the leftovers (nope, not wasting food 😋). They will give you free Japanese tea which is so good! Because everyone is Japanese there, it's highlighted in the menu that if you have any dietary needs, to make sure important details are not missed in translation. Its location in Chinatown makes it perfect! Just make sure to check their opening times as they are closed some mornings.

Bone Daddies Soho
@yourfriend_chichi
This place surprised me so much!! My friend and I managed to get one for their free ramen during their Soho opening - yes, we lined up for more than an hour to get it, but it was so worth it! The staff was so friendly and for the first time, they were actually encouraging us about making content, instead of being annoyed by it. The quality was top! I still remember how orange and creamy the egg from the ramen was - just unbelievable! They give you wipes with Korean wings, you get one of those disposable bibs to protect your clothes from stains, hair ties, pieces of garlic and garlic crusher, all those small details that bring it to another level.

Dishoom Carnaby
@yourfriend_chichi
This is a fine-dining Indian restaurant, they have many locations but they all give me the same vibe: dim lights, Bombay years 30s, expensive - I love it! It is always so busy that I have to wait in a queue even on a Tuesday! They usually are so nice to bring over a chai while you are waiting outside and then move you to the bar for half of your waiting time left, so that you can start warming up or cooling down, get a drink and start chilling. With alcohol, the bill can easily get higher than £35pp, but I've been there having just one drink and it was cheaper than that, and even had to bring food home as we were so full! Quality is so good, I always try different things and keep discovering dishes I love! Like, would you ever order lentils in a restaurant? I would never, before I tried the ones in there, and then BOOM - loved them!

Las Iguanas - London - Royal Festival Hall
@yourfriend_chichi
If you don't book, get ready to wait! Especially if you go during the happy hour time where you get two drinks paying the price of one. What I love about this restaurant is that it has such a large menu that you must find something you like. From tapas to mains, from Argentina to Mexico, they offer a lot of choices and prices. Most locations will offer happy hour all day every day, but the one at Royal Festival Hall, Happy Hour is available until 7 pm then 10 pm-close Friday & Saturday, all day Sunday-Thursday. I've always had tapas-style dishes, where you get a lot of small dishes and share them with your friends. Must try is the Brazilian fried chicken and the cheese and mango empanadas.

On The Bab
@yourfriend_chichi
If you are in the Shoreditch area or near St. Paul, and fancying some Korean bao, you need to try this place out! They offer a Korean wing flavour selection with a homemade coleslaw that was top! I would recommend not pairing Korean food with wine, but getting either beer or soju, or both of them - if you know you know😏

Flat Iron Covent Garden
@yourfriend_chichi
This is a steakhouse chain but it is so good for the price you get. They don't have starters or desserts but will give you free popcorn to start and free ice cream at the end. The flat iron steak is the cheapest you can get, I would usually try their specials or more fatty meat. I guess is all about your taste 😋 The side portions are pretty small for their price, but they are tasteful. Their fries are too fatty (they cook them in beef fat), but I love their mash and mac & cheese! Cocktail, wine or beer - get what you like as everything goes well with a steak. One thing I like about this chain is that every restaurant has a different vibe, and some of them are full of plants - it's so nice to discover new vibes.

💸Pricey

These restaurants are more for big occasions or special treats as they are more expensive. Their quality food, service and locations are top.

Gloria
@yourfriend_chichi
Gloria, along with all the sisters and brothers' restaurants, is so good. Their speciality is pasta served from a cheese wheel, which as you can imagine gives more creamy and cheesy flavour. Their starter, main, pasta, desserts, cocktail - EVERYTHING is good. I've tried different dishes and have never been disappointed! Every restaurant has a different vibe, but they all made me feel like I was in Italy. You will feel the quality of the ingredients even from just getting their olives. I can't even forget their handwash soap that brought me back to Sicily with its citrus scent. The only concern is that this chain has been recently bought from another company and I hope it will not affect their quality.

Sticks'n'Sushi Soho
@yourfriend_chichi
This restaurant comes from a Japanese and Danish background, it is a fine dining with a very nice vibe. Every location is a bit different, but you can see the elegant touch in all of them. The portions are gourmet size, especially the meat portion, the quality will compensate for it as it's amazing. It can be funny, but one of the best sides is the broccoli - saying from someone who doesn't like them that much!

BiBo Shoreditch
@yourfriend_chichi
This is a fine dining restaurant from Dani Garcia, who is a Michelin-star chef. If you go with another person at least, you must try their paella! It is not the typical one, but they have so many different ones and it is so good! We tried the one with RibEye as I don't eat fish and it surprised me so much. We also had a few different starters and they were all amazing. The location is also very nice, the service was top and the whole vibe felt classy. You can tell the clients there are certain types of people, but it didn't feel overwhelming, actually very warm and welcoming.

Heddon Street Kitchen
@yourfriend_chichi
My partner is a big fan of Gordon Ramsay so we always try the different ones around London. I find this one is a nice compromise between the fine dining and the street food ones. The bill can get quite high, especially if you add on bottles of wine, but the prices of the mains are not too crazy. Quality food, like usual, is top! Along with the service and the ambient. If you go in summer, it's very nice to sit on the terrace as it is not on the main street and not too crowded. Like in every Gordon Ramsey Restaurant, I would highly recommend having his beef Wellington which is his signature dish, on top of being traditional British cuisine.

Gordon Ramsay Street Pizza - St Paul's
@yourfriend_chichi
This restaurant has two floors and two different vibes, which is so wow! The downstairs floor is the pizza one, where you can get bottomless pizza by slices - they will come around till you tell them to stop. The upstair floor is more fancy and pricy. They have an Á la carte menu and you could easily spend £80/100pp if you get a starter, main, dessert and drinks. Both of them are worth it and I've been multiple times, so highly recommend them. On the top floor, like in every Gordon Ramsey restaurant, I would highly recommend having his beef Wellington which is his signature dish, on top of being traditional British cuisine.

Heliot Steak House
@yourfriend_chichi
Almost nobody knows about this restaurant as it is inside the Hippodrome Casino and tailored for their VIP clients, but you can get dinner there too! It's a fine-dining steakhouse, they offer fish and vegetarian options as well, and the vibe feels quite expensive being at the top of the casino and seeing people spending money - but don't worry, I've never noticed the people gambling unless I wanted to focus on that.
