Roscioli Salumeria con Cucina
@heathercarlson
I'm a fan of everything Roscioli does, and recommend having lunch in the wine cellar or at the bar when you're in Rome. Pros at Roman cuisine, if they have a tasting menu when you go- GET IT!

Everything I've had here is outstanding. Pop in for an espresso & maritozzi on your way to anywhere in the center of Rome.

Cul De Sac
@heathercarlson
We love this place and have been coming here for years.
The wine list is extraordinary. The food, delicious.
Don’t miss the assorted local meat & cheese plates. I love their onion soup and get it every time I come. They have a smattering of pastas and other small plates. My husband loves their Roman beef rolls, my daughter craves their meatballs and mashed potatoes. Craving salad? Their Greek salad is delicious!

Trattoria Polese
@heathercarlson
This tasty restaurant has a lovely outdoor dining area sitting on the edge of a small park. I love this spot for their excellent pasta specials (try whatever is in season) and take away pizza when staying in the neighborhood. Bonus points for great covered outdoor patio & the fact that they are open all day- so it's easy to eat a nice dinner at 6 if you're jet lagged or traveling with kids. Pop by or call for a reservation if you're wanting to go during a busy time.

A classic in the Jewish Ghetto. We come back often when in Rome & love their eggplant parmigiana, fried artichokes & baccala. Call ahead for a reservation.

Il Goccetto
@heathercarlson
Excellent neighborhood wine bar with small plates. I recommend picking what sounds good to eat and then asking your waiter to pair a wine to go with it. Makes a great early light meal/dinner spot for jet lagged travelers.
