After the great cinematic success, there was a real tourist boom, called "the Mamma Mia effect" where everyone wondered where the beautiful island where the musical was filmed was located. If as summer approaches you are wondering where the beautiful island of Kalokairi is located with its famous Villa Donna hotel, don't bother looking for it among the thousands of islands of the Hellenic archipelago because it simply doesn't exist, its name (which among other things it means “summer”) is a cinematic invention.
