The Amalfi Coast is one of those places that pops up in countless travel photos, so much so that it’s probably already on your bucket list. And with good reason—it’s a destination that many say you have to visit at least once in your life. Most travelers start their Amalfi adventure in Naples (as I did the first time) or Sorrento, but this time, I took a different route, starting in Salerno after a trip that started in Ischia. This was my second time here, and, surprisingly, I wasn’t swept off my feet, just like I wasn’t the first time.
Curious why? Join me as I share how to spend a day exploring the Amalfi Coast, highlighting four picturesque towns: Salerno, Maiori, Amalfi, and Positano

Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, covering an area of approximately 25,711 square kilometers.
We were there for 6 days. Given the island’s size, six days aren’t sufficient to cover all the major sites, but during my research and planning, I concentrated on Palermo, Catania, and nearby attractions. We spent 3 days in Catania and 3 days in Palermo. We used Catania and Palermo as starting points to explore the surrounding areas. During the day, we relaxed at the beach, and in the evenings, we wandered through the cities, soaking in the Sicilian vibe without focusing on any specific attractions—just enjoying the atmosphere. So, let’s start!

It's that time of year again! Ho, ho, ho! Christmas movies and songs are defrosting, and we're all about mulled wine, ginger cookies, baked chestnuts, hot tea, Christmas lights, and handmade ornaments. We're super pumped! So, even if you're feeling a bit Grinchy and hate the cold, let's find out which Christmas markets in Europe are still worth checking out! 🎄✨
1. Munich, Germany:
Around Christmas time, Munich, the capital of Bavaria, really comes alive. Check out the Christkindlmarkets (that's what the Germans call their Christmas markets) in Marienplatz and the Tollwood Winter Festival. You'll find loads of cool crafts, delicious food, and, of course, some yummy Glühwein (that's mulled wine). Don't forget to admire the beautiful Christmas tree in Marienplatz and the adorable Ice Magic ice-skating rink!
2. Nuremberg, Germany:
The Christmas Market in Nuremberg is world-famous, and you'll be surrounded by the irresistible scents of gingerbread cookies, the comforting embrace of mulled wine, and a sea of traditional wooden toys. It's like stepping into a holiday fairy tale.
3. Strasbourg, France:
Ah, the magical city of France – Strasbourg! This lovely Alsatian city undergoes a magical winter makeover. From cheesy raclette to handmade ornaments, Strasbourg's market has it all. The historic old town lights up with dazzling street decorations, there's a Christmas tree that seems to touch the sky, and you must try the local holiday delight, Bredele cookies. Do you know that house with all the teddy bears you've likely spotted on Instagram? Well, it's right here in Strasbourg!
4. Colmar, France:
The fairytale town of Colmar in the Alsace region has its own Christmas markets. As you wander through its charming streets with half-timbered houses, you'll discover one-of-a-kind souvenirs, get a taste of regional wines (Alsace is known for its wines), and truly immerse yourself in the fascination of the season. But, fair warning, December is peak season, so plan ahead!
5. Budapest, Hungary:
Budapest's Christmas Market is a festive haven that transforms the city into a winter wonderland. From the charming stalls in Vörösmarty Square to the glittering lights along the Danube, the holiday spirit blankets Budapest. Indulge in traditional Hungarian delights, from goulash to mulled wine, as you explore the market's offerings.
6. Prague, Czech Republic:
Prague's Christmas Market is a festive extravaganza that turns the heart of the city into a holiday paradise. Indulge in the rich flavors of Czech cuisine, with hearty dishes like trdelník (a sweet pastry), svařák (mulled wine), and local specialties that will warm you up on a winter day. Oh, and by the way, they've got mulled beer too (though, fair warning, we wouldn't bet on it being a taste sensation)! Cheers to festive eats and good times in Prague!
7. Ljubljana, Slovenia:
Been living in Ljubljana for almost 8 years now, so take it from a local—visiting during winter is the way to go! Christmas in Ljubljana is a whole vibe. Stroll through the festively decked-out streets, savor some delicious Slovenian food, and don't forget to check out the magical Ljubljana Castle for epic views of the town. Let's explore the Eternal City together over three days. Whether you're into history, art, or delicious food, this easy-to-follow itinerary will help you experience the best of Rome.
Here's a tip right from the start: practice your patience. Rome is crowded with tourists. I initially thought June would be less busy since people usually head to the seaside, but I was wrong. So, prepare to wait for restaurants (most of them don't take reservations), museums, and churches.
