Did you know that this city actually inspired Haussmann (responsible for the renovation of Paris)? So, instead of Bordeaux being known as "the little Paris", Paris should be known as "the big Bordeaux"! I've been to Bordeaux two times: in the winter and in the summer. In the winter, the gothic architecture of the church and cathedrals mixes up with the naked trees. In the summer, the all vibe of the city changes, every terrace is full of live and all the fountains have water (in the winter, all the fountains don't have water, because of the risk of freezing).

From the Mediterranean beaches, to the world renowned monuments, France truly has something for everyone who comes to visit. I live in Switzerland, making it very easy to travel to France. All the places we visited on our 71 day road trip. The route went down from Calais on the west of France for a week including another week in the Pyrenees. The north of Spain and Basque region for around 2 weeks. Down through Portugal including Porto, Lisbon and the Algarve for around 4 weeks. A few spots in the south of Spain from the drive back home which took us 10 days. Finally finishing in Bruges, Belgium.
