Your trip to the Basque Country is incomplete without a trip to at least one of these beaches... That are not La Concha!
Most are easily accessible by public transit, and a few are a short walk away from a Metro station (the Greater Bilbao area has its own Metro system, connecting almost a million people)

It’s surprising the variety of museums that Madrid offers. From the most famous and visited, like Museo Nacional del Prado, to the lesser known, like the National Museum of Decorative Arts. Even though museums may not be a top priority when planning a visit to Spain’s capital, they are the perfect refuge for Madrid’s hot summer days.
Below is my Madrid museums guide with the best galleries to visit on your next visit to Madrid.

Although less famous than its Andalusian neighbours (Seville, Córdoba and Granada), Málaga is no slouch in terms of history and culture: its 3,000 years of history make it one of the oldest cities in Europe. A stroll through the historic centre is a journey through time through the Phoenician, Roman, Arab and Christian eras, with attractions such as the 1st-century Roman Theatre, the 11th-century Arab Alcazaba, the 16th-century Gibralfaro Castle (built on the ruins of a Phoenician lighthouse) and the Málaga Cathedral, one of the finest examples of the Andalusian Renaissance. Just to whet your appetite.

Have a little bit of time to spend in Barcelona but still want to take it easy? Here are a bunch of recommendations for your long weekend or 3-day trip that will give you a ton of ideas.
I've been to Barcelona so many times and still haven't explored everything it has to offer!
In this guide, I provide the following:
🏛️ 40+ things to see and do around the city, divided by district.
🥘 5+ restaurants to stop in and sit down at to enjoy a bite to eat. Most are locally run and operated that you won't find anywhere outside of Barcelona and feature a very local dining experience to better immerse yourself in Catalan and Barcelona culture.

While this is still a largely undiscovered part of the world by most foreigners, it's widely known as a culinary mecca for everyone with an interest in food and food culture. Basque cuisine is renowned worldwide for being some of the most visionary and avant-garde in the industry, and food as a whole is an extremely important part of Basque culture.
There's so much more to do in the Basque Country than just enjoying the food though! The entire region is truly a gift to the planet in terms of natural beauty, being nestled between mountains and the sea. Basques have been fishers and mountain climbers, sailing the seas and scaling mountains, while also developing some of the strongest industry in Southern Europe.
Here's a guide to some of the absolutely crucial visits you *must* make while you're in the area, whether you're based in Bilbao or San Sebastián (referred to as "Donosti" by Basques, a shortened form of its Basque name Donostia), though I prefer Bilbao because I'm biased. 😜
This guide encompasses everything from landmarks to towns and even a few restaurants, perfect for when you're considering whether to check out this beautiful and charming region.
I focus on the Spanish Basque Country as it's what I'm most familiar with, but recommendations for the French Basque Country (known as the "Iparralde" or "north country" in Basque) will come soon!

Oh, we're just getting started!
Now that I have a travel buddy, my wanderlust has been awakened like never before. I didn't do all my travel with her, but with her finding cheap flights, I finally got to go places I never thought I'd get to and they were just so much more accessible.
The vast majority of 2018 was spent doing weekend trips, which turned out to be our "thing". Don't let anyone tell you you need to spend more than a week traveling, even in Europe!

If you live in Dublin and have a furry best friend or if you happen to be traveling with your. doggo, I've got you covered.
These are some of the pubs that I visit most often because they allow dogs either inside or in their terrace, they happen to be pretty good as well and less touristy.
