A Weekend in a Uruguayan coastal town
Colonia del Sacramento is one of the most beautiful, historic, and pleasantly surprising cities in the region. It is known for its unique colonial architecture, cobblestone streets, and stunning views of the Rio de la Plata. I was surprised to find that Colonia was founded by Portuguese settlers in the late 1600's, and is considered to be the oldest city in Uruguay. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a city full of charm and history, known for its picturesque colonial architecture, with influences from Portuguese, Spanish, and Brazilian.
I spent 40 hours in Colonia del Sacramento and want to give you the best insights for what to do in a day trip or a weekend in this Uruguayan coastal town.
I'll offer tips on both what to do and where to eat, as well as general tips for spending time in Uruguay.

Casablanca gets a really bad rap. The vibrant, messy, energetic, and hectic economic hub of Morocco, most visitors begin their trip in the city. In their zeal to get Moroccan tajines, tiles, and mint tea, they flock to places in the Medina and get an underwhelming and negative view of the city.
Casablanca is not Marrakesh, Fez, or even Tangier. It has a treasure trove of activities, especially if you've been to some of the historic cities and are looking for a change of scenery. So if you're looking for a great experience taking in the sights of modern Morocco, here I present my perfect day in Casablanca.

Though Barcelona is not the capital of flamenco (it's from the south of Spain, from Andalucia), if you are visiting Spain and your only stop is Barcelona, you might want to watch flamenco. I totally understand! Barcelona also has good "tablaos", which are the flamenco show venues and here are the good ones. Top tip: don't book the first row cause you'll be wet with their sweat and won't be able to see everything so the mid seats are always better!

Tag us in your planning and travels so we can see your experiences in this amazing country! @EricandSarah_
*Full transparency: this is not an ultra-budget guide. We include a range of free to paid activities in each place, a variety of restaurant options and mid-range priced accommodations (mostly Airbnbs). It's based on our own travel style which we'd consider "medium budget" - we like to save money but are also willing to splurge on certain comforts and activities. We believe there is valuable information for any type of traveller though!

Going on a short trip to the city of love? I’ve got you 🫶🏻
I have put way more places and addresses in this guide than it is possible to do over the course of 3 days, so that depending on your taste and travel style, you can choose across a wide variety of things to do and see. The places tagged (82) have, for nearly all of them, links attached to them for further history context or link to website for restaurants.
Enjoy your stay in Paris 🇫🇷

This guide is written with the intention of making the most of all this City has to offer - nature, views, city life, restaurants and bars, sports, music - with minimal planning.
To make is easier to read I have split the guide into sections of things to do regardless of the season and then activities for each season. You can pick and choose events on how active you want this trip to be and how far you want to venture out of the city. (Find some transportation tips at the end of the guide :))

The hard yards (a great deal of effort or hard work - Australian slang) have been done with this guide I have spent time curating the perfect list of my go-to and want-to for the next trip (I visited Lyon three times last year alone) best over 2-3 days but the guide has plenty more for an extra day or 2. It includes the following.
- 18 Restaurants (high-end to local favourites)
- 16 Bars and Cafes (frequented by locals)
- 7 Musemes (worth the effort and time)
- 4 Markets (antique but mostly food)
- 5 Hotels (high-end to affordable)
- 5 Speciality Stores not to miss
Welcome to Lyon, a city that effortlessly blends rich gastronomic traditions with a vibrant modern spirit. Renowned as the gastronomic capital of France, Lyon captivates visitors with its diverse culinary scene, from high-end establishments to charming Bouchons offering traditional Lyonnaise delights. Beyond its culinary prowess, Lyon stands as a livable city, embracing fresh produce markets, impressive museums, and a welcoming atmosphere. Join me on a journey through Lyon's iconic streets, uncovering its hidden gems, diverse flavours, and the unique blend of historic charm and contemporary allure that makes it a standout destination in Europe. - I am moving:)

This guide covers three of the best spots in Romania to visit: Bucharest, Constanta, and Brasov. Each spot will give you something unique - Bucharest for the architecture, history, big city feelings; Constanta for the beach town and laid back ambiance; and Brasov for the authentic towns close to everything outdoors. One thing will feel the same though - the Eastern European culture of Romania will shine through! Try the food, drinks, activities, castles, history, and everything you possibly can whilst you are here and make sure this is added to your bucket list.
