Get ready for a stunning week of scenery, wildlife, and relaxation! You'll spend your time in 3 areas of Northern Costa Rica: the majestic Arenal Volcano in La Fortuna, the cloud-kissed forests of Monteverde, and the sun-soaked beaches of Tamarindo.
🧳Trip summary
Day 1 - Travel day
Day 2 - La Fortuna (hiking & swimming)
Day 3 - La Fortuna (wildlife & hotsprings)
Day 4 - La Fortuna + Monteverde (hanging bridges & night hike)
Day 5 - Monteverde (canopy tour & excursion options)
Day 6 - Monteverde (cloud forest)
Day 7 - Tamarindo (excursion options)
Day 8 - Tamarindo (beach day)
Day 9 - Travel day
This itinerary is perfect for a Saturday through following Sunday week-long trip, but could be adapted to any date range. The trip is laid out with stops in three popular Northern cities, but any city could be added or removed to extend or shorten the trip. The itinerary assumes you have rented a car to travel between each destination, but there you can also find plenty of options to take shuttles between each city.
Why this guide?
🎟️ Advance ticket purchase recommendations. Avoid the lines - and disappointment - by booking tickets ahead of time. You'll be guaranteed entrance and will enjoy walking straight in, past any lines for ticket purchases. Special call outs for combo tickets to bundle and save will also be included where available!
🧾 Location-specific packing list. This won't be a comprehensive list (surely you've remembered your socks), but it will cover some key items to toss in your bag for a truly great experience at your destination.
🏆 Honorable mentions. Unless you booked a one way ticket (jealous!), you've only got a limited time to explore. The suggested itinerary includes my opinions of the best choices for first time visitors with general interest. Feel free to swap those out with any of the honorable mentions.
✨ And finally...
If you are looking for a more tailored experience with a unique twist based on your interests, travel dates, and more, a custom itinerary may be best. I look forward to helping bring your vacation vision to life!

Welcome to Gdańsk! A Polish port city on the Baltic Coast. Rich with history, Gdańsk was home to the first battles of WW2. Today, the city has been mostly reconstructed and has evolved into a colorful, and energetic city, reminiscent of a Polish-Amsterdam. While touristy, especially in nearby Sopot, you can still find lots of phenomenal cafes, bars, and restaurants throughout the city, at any hour of the day. Before you go, be sure to pick up some amber souvenirs as Gdańsk is the center of the world's amber trade.
From this guide, you'll get to know the city and learn what to expect, it includes:
🗺️ Google Maps Version.
📍 Places of Interest.
🏨 Accommodations: Hostels & Hotels. (Adding Soon)
🍽️ Restaurants: Of all prices.
☕ Cafés.
🥐 Sweet Treats: Such as Pączki.
🍺 Bars & Clubs.
🎟️ Recommended Tours.
A lot of work went into this guide. I leave my travel knowledge open for all, so if you find this guide useful I do ask that you leave a tip.

It's a city full of history and monuments, with all buildings being ancient, many left to the elements and ruined, but still beautiful. There's a castle, a river, a stunning parliament, and many unique bridges; there are many more places to eat well and uniquely than in Milan, it's inexpensive, and everything is accessible on foot, or at most with some means of transportation, which work very well. In short, yes, it's worth visiting!

Thank you for your interest in my Taste of Tuscany itinerary which I created from my recent trip there. I hope you enjoy some of my suggestions for your next trip to Florence and the Siena region of Tuscany. If you do, please let me know in a message and maybe a photo. I am organizing this particular tour during this harvest season from September/ October, 2023. Let me know if you would like more information about this trip, it is limited to a small group of 8.
As a travel consultant, I have been organizing bespoke tours all over France and Italy since 2012. I enjoy traveling and sharing my wonderful local small/slow travel experiences with the intension of helping small family businesses recover from the past couple of difficult years. I have more itineraries to share from around the world, so be on the look out.
I envision the Next Renaissance will be in the small towns and villages in Italy, where the people have lived close to the earth for generations, cultivating a simple but beautiful way of life we can all learn from. There is a shift away from big travel business, toward slow/small travel. It is the way I like to travel.
Enjoy! Buon Viaggio!! ...and please mention my name to the locals :)

Only the best spots to shop, wine, dine and get hyped up in the Spanish capital - a modern city that honors its historical heritage.
Passionate people from Madrid are all about getting together, enjoying life and art in all its forms. Regardless of the season, Madrid abounds in art venues, cultural manifestations and night life. However, a little bit of shopping won’t hurt either. 😉
Highlights:
🐻 El Oso y el Madroño (the Bear and the Strawberry Tree) - the symbol of the city, is a sculpture from the 2nd half of the 20th century, that represents the coat of arms of Madrid and is found on the east side of the Puerta del Sol, between Calle de Alcalá and Carrera de San Jerónimo, in the historical centre of the capital.
🐂 Corrida de toros - Spanish-style bullfighting, involves a physical contest with humans (and other animals) attempting to publicly subdue, immobilize, or kill a bull. The most common bull used is the Spanish Fighting Bull (Toro Bravo), a type of cattle native to the Iberian Peninsula. This style of bullfighting is seen to be both a sport and performance art. In a traditional corrida, three toreros (or matadores) each "fight" against two out of a total of six "fighting" bulls to death.
💃🏻Flamenco - is an art form (incorporating poetry, singing, guitar playing, dance, polyrhythmic hand-clapping and finger snapping) strongly influenced by the Gitanos, but which has its deeper roots in Moorish musical traditions. Flamenco culture originated in Andalusia, but has since become one of the icons of Spanish music and even Spanish culture in general.
🍖Jamón - is a kind of dry-cured ham that’s at the heart of Spanish culture and cuisine. There exist two great traditions of artisanal cured hams in Spain, both of which are a source of enjoyment and great pride among Spaniards:
1. Jamón Serrano - a cured country ham made from conventional pork.
2. Jamón Ibérico - produced from non-acorn fed pigs (Cerdo Ibérico) or acorn-fed variety which results in Jamón Ibérico de Bellota (considered the world's finest ham).
🥨 Churros - is a type of fried dough, made with choux pastry dough piped into hot oil with a piping bag and large closed star tip or similar shape. They can either be thin (and sometimes knotted) or long and thick, where they are known as porras or jeringos in some regions. Normally eaten for breakfast dipped in champurrado, hot chocolate, dulce de leche or café con leche.
🏟️ Football fans should be very excited about Madrid, as it hosts one of the best teams ever - Real Madrid. Visit Real Madrid’s home by taking a tour on their stadium, Santiago Bernabéu.

Jamaica is a place we’ve heard so much about, so we went over the July 4th holiday. Leaving Saturday morning out of JFK landing in Montego Bay, Jamaica around noon. We Rented a car and drove 1.5-2 hours to Negril, easy but slow drive. Spent the next 2 full days exploring and eating our way around Negril. Tuesday we had a nice breakfast before making the trek back to the airport. Hope you enjoy all the recommendations.

A merger of two old cities in 1873 - Buda and Pest, separated by the Danube River - the capital of Hungary seems like a place out of a fairy tale. 🏰
With some castles here and some other majestic buildings there, I found it to be an elegant, chic and romantic city, with different cultural influences (such as Roman, Ottoman, Slavic, Jewish and Austrian).
Known as the “Paris of the East” or the “Pearl of the Danube”, the city is also designated as the “City of SPAs”, therefore this guide includes a list of some famous thermal baths and SPAs, alongside dining/drinking and shopping venues. Of course, all the major tourist attractions are included, as well.
✨Must Do: go on an evening sightseeing cruise along the Danube!
🌶️Hungarian cuisine is synonymous with paprika.
Few cuisines are quite so intertwined with a single ingredient as Hungary’s is with paprika — the spice that gives some of the country’s best-known dishes their intense orange colour and characteristic peppery flavour. Paprika is made from the dried ground pods of several types of capsicum annuum pepper, and it comes in a range of heat levels from édes (sweet) to csipos (hot) and different levels of coarseness.
In Budapest it’s sold everywhere, from small grocery stores to local food markets, where small-scale producers sell it by the kilogram in unlabelled plastic bags. For the highest quality, seek reputable family producers such as Hódi or PaprikaMolnár.

Lisbon surprised me in many ways. Her colors are bright but never garish; she's bustling and crowded, yet still romantic, like a low, elegant fado.
I love discovering the unique cafés, meeting talented artisans, and unexpectedly finding stunning views of the city or the ocean around a corner. I’ve truly fallen in love with her.
Please save and always check on this map and visit any of the cafes, restaurants, museums or parks when you are in a neighbourhood. And I also add small notes for each place so you can quickly find what I like about this place.
Enjoy!
