🦋 Costa Rica for Digital Nomads
Hello, traveller!
Wellcome to my Costa Rica guide 🫶🏻
✨ This guide is free, your $ tips will help me to stay inspired to create new guides!
There are many options for Digital Nomads in Costa Rica
For town lovers:
📍San Jose - an ultimate option for those who want to travel around Costa Rica on weekends and have a town routine on workdays no monkeys, aunts, available taxi, good roads, hospitals
For beach lovers:
📍Tamarindo - for surfers and party lovers
📍Santa Teressa - same but more calmer
Tips
You can drink top water in Costa Rica
Use Uber - for taxi & food delivery
"Pura Vida" - means everything from hello to wish you all the best
"Ticos" - locals
"Soda" - cafes with local food
"Galo Pinto" - Universal local dish with rice and beans. It seems like this is the main dish they eat for breakfast lunch and dinner. You can find it in every cafe
Try Guanabana juice and papaya with milk - those two are amazing
Ola de Carno is favourite dish of my husband
I love their fried platanos (veggie bananas)
Costa Rica is safe, but it is still a LatAm country, so be cosies. I do not recommend to walk alone at night and definitely recommend to chose safe districts for living, some of places are better to avoid and take care of your belongings, My friend had issue in Jaco, ticos stoled their backpack from their car. But overall this country is safe we haven't had any issues with our safety while staying and traveling. And ticos are so nice, friendly and welcoming
San Jose
- is the capital of Costa Rica and the biggest town, even it still that simple as a village. It is the best option for Digital Nomads who want to live in the town and travel around the country on the weekends.
The central spot of the city, but you can face a cultural shock here, so I do not recommend you to get there as your first thing in Costa Rica. Such a wonderful start of the guide jaja, isn't it? :)
Best districts to live
All this district are safe and I do not recommend to live in other places than that (My friends lived in Heredia and Alajuela a little chipper but less pleasent)
📍Roshmore - near Sabana park and all embacyies, many cafes around
📍Escauzu - safe, calm, many cafes
📍Geroma - calm, safe district
📍Santa Anna - safe and the most expensive, pretty far from city center, many hiking trails around.
We stayed in these Condominium Complex and it was so comfortable!
This is one more option I would recommend you if you wish to find soul-mates while your trip

Festivals
I heard that Costa Rica hosts cool festivals and made a research, here is the top festivals I found, they usually repeat annually
New Year Celebration
Tamarindo Beach hosts possibly the most popular New Year’s Eve party in Costa Rica. Located in the famous Guanacaste region, it's ideal for surfing and swimming. During NYE, the beach gets rather crowded; however, the atmosphere is incredible, and fireworks displays are launched in the skies over the beach at midnight.
If you prefer a less crowded place, check out other beaches in Guanacaste: Conchal, Brasilito, and Flamingo.
Portero Beach is another good spot to celebrate New Year's Eve. Portero boasts the fireworks over the waterfront and the party at Sailing Center. Other good options include Santa Teresa beaches, where most hotels offer their own celebrations or gala dinners.
Fiestas de Zapote is a week-long end-of-the-year festival taking place in San José. The main highlights of the festivities are the carnival, the largest equestrian parade in Costa Rica, and a Tico-style bullfight or “toros a la Tica." Fiestas de Zapote is often called the super bowl of Costa Rican bull riding
NYE Traditions:
Some popular superstitions include wearing yellow underwear to get rich, walking with a suitcase to travel more, and eating 12 grapes exactly at midnight
