Places you’ll love to eat at drink at when you’re in Charleston and some of the surrounding islands and towns.
You’ll get a lot of the same recommendations for downtown Charleston (High Cotton, Husk, SNOB), and while those are all very good restaurants, I want to give you the local take on some of the greatest spots around the city that might not show up at the top of your searches.

A collection of lux accommodations around the world split between those I have stayed at and recommend and those on my wish list.
In this case, lux doesn't mean 4 or 5 star hotels and resorts. Lux is the intersection between comfort, design, and extras.
This guide will be updated, so check back!

Bourbon- a throughly American spirit made with at least 51% corn and distilled only in brand new white oak barrels in the US, and Louisville is the heart of Bourbon.
This itinerary is two full days, six distilleries, four fantastic local restaurants along with shopping and stay recommendations. Perfect for a three day weekend!
My goal was for us to visit as many distilleries as possible, but try to have a unique experience at everyone one (there is only so many times you need to learn how whiskey is distilled). And as someone who is not a whiskey drinker (but is married to one) I wanted us both to have fun!

Italians are famous for the Dolce Far Niente... sweet doing nothing. I always suggest people build in some time to sit and people watch. The Aperitivo is an art form in Italy and in Florence now, rooftop bars have become a thing. Many are in hotels. You will need a reservation, especially in high season.

2022 was the year of a lot of travel redemption for most of us, but it was also the year I had to turn down trips to Portugal, Spain, and Paris, as well as have a trip to New Orleans cancelled due to Covid. But thankfully that didn’t stop me from a spring road trip to Texas, a few summer days in DC, two trips to Disney World, and lots of Tennessee day trips in between. Enjoy this travel journal of 350 (!!!) places, including:
🖼️ 42 Museums, Gardens, and Attractions
☕️ 50 Coffee Shops
🍽️ 99 Restaurants, Bakeries, and Food Trucks
🛏️ 38 Hotels, Bed & Breakfasts, and Airbnbs
✨ and a whole bunch more!
