Seeing all of the lighthouses we could find was the focus of this trip, but we found so much more along the way. Flying into Boston, Massachusetts we made our way along the coast all the way to Portland, Maine.
We stayed five nights and six days exploring all of the nooks and crannies we encountered. Lighthouses were definitely found and loved, but excitedly so was a fort built in the 1600's, a local bar with ties to a tragedy as well as part of a movie, a fabulously, politically incorrect tour, and even stayed in a witch's house. You will find all of these in this guide and so much more. Lighthouses, restaurants, tours, and oh my gosh, the best donuts you will find anywhere. This was an incredibly fun trip.
I also include many of the photos I took at each place.

Portland, Maine offers a vibrant food scene with fresh seafood, craft breweries, and innovative farm-to-table dining. For us though, we came here for the lobster rolls. Here is where we ate, our our top recommendations for families.

Your trip to the Basque Country is incomplete without a trip to at least one of these beaches... That are not La Concha!
Most are easily accessible by public transit, and a few are a short walk away from a Metro station (the Greater Bilbao area has its own Metro system, connecting almost a million people)

Torres del Paine National Park located in Chile's Patagonia region is famous for their soaring mountains, glaciers, and bright icebergs. Trekkers frequently take the W Trek or O Circuit to admire the famous granite towers - Torres del Paine and Cuernos del Paine. I hiked in Torres del Paine via the W Trek in January and have compiled my top tips for the park here.
This guide will go over the key things to know in order to hike the W Trek such as the park geography, highlights of the W Trek, the W Trek vs the O Circuit, accommodations on the W Trek, the best time to go, weather, and what to pack.
I have also outline the itinerary I followed for my trek starting with landing in Puerto Natales. I've included what I saw during the hike and things to look out for.
I finish the guide by discussing ways to expand your trip to Southern Argentina including a promo code for my other Patagonia guides.

Mackinac Island is located in the Straits of Mackinac, which connects Michigan's Upper and Lower peninsulas. It is one of the most gorgeous places in the Midwest. It is the only place in the United States that has banned cars making it extensively peaceful. I can't recommend visiting enough!
