Results for Bay Of Plenty
Welcome to Tauranga, a coastal city in the Bay of Plenty region. This port is New Zealand’s largest port in terms of gross export tonnage and the region is the fastest growing one. This city has something for everyone, from beautiful beaches, dolphin watching, thermal reserves, galleries, shopping, and of course great cuisine. I spent the day at a sheep farm, shopping and enjoying some short hikes around the thermal reserve along with a traditional Maori cultural show. I even had time to enjoy the beach before I boarded the ship again. You could spend the entirety of the day just on the coast, surfing, kayaking, rafting, and refueling with the many food trucks that park just outside of it.

Rotorua will welcome you with the smell of rotten eggs for which its nickname is also "Rottenrua". The sulphur smell is omnipresent here so you shouldn't mind that too much. The city and its surroundings have much to offer and you'll find yourself in a geothermal wonderland exploring otherworldly places and learn more about Maori culture.
I assembled a 3 day itinerary for you so that you can make the most of your visit to Rotorua. Each day includes hotel recommendations, places to eat, activities and places to relax.

The East Cape of New Zealand is a slow-paced remote and rugged coastal region known for its unspoiled beauty. It's home to stunning landscapes, with rolling hills, secluded beaches, and dramatic cliffs. The area is rich in Maori culture and offers a peaceful and tranquil escape, perfect for those looking for relaxation in nature and get away from the hustle and bustle.
As it is such a remote area, it is not much visited by travellers, especially international tourists. So if you're looking for an off the beaten track destination, this is the perfect place for you.
My guide shows you the most beautiful places to see, accommodation options as well as recommendations on where to eat and I've included some of my own pictures as well.
You'll find all the places on an interactive map that you can easily use on the phone and have it with you on your travels.

Active volcanoes. Dancing northern lights. Gushing geysers. Massive glaciers. Thermal hot springs. Thundering waterfalls. Iceland is the ultimate adventure destination. How have you not been here yet? It’s finally time. Start in the northernmost capital in the world. Reykjavik is a hip, modern city. Then start exploring the wild coastline, the sheep-filled countryside, the icy interior, and the peaceful islands. There are plenty of black-sand beaches, small fishing villages, turf-roofed houses, and epic hikes along the way. Just remember to pack layers. Sometimes, the Gulf Stream provides moderate temperatures. Other times, it’ll feel like you’re in the Arctic. Also don’t forget the long, dark winters and the 24-hour daylight during the short summers. If you take advantage of Icelandair’s free stopover program—a great excuse to visit Helsinki, Copenhagen, and even Paris—you can keep returning to discover which season you like best.
