Holland’s capital is a charming city famous for its canals and Dutch culture including bicycles, windmills, tulips, and of course the red light district. It was a city I was only in for a few days and while I was there KNEW I had to come back. It’s a city I could imagine living in and can see myself revisiting over and over! 💐🌷🍃🚨🚲

Amsterdam embodies the term “open minded”. As a city they excel at easy travel, picturesque views and quick access to any number of wonderful museums. The architecture in Amsterdam pays homage back to the city’s 17th-century Golden Age and helps preserve a unique history.
As a place to travel, Amsterdam provides all of the experiences you could want and is easy to visit by air or by train. The canal systems, bicycle paths and narrow houses lend a special atmosphere to a large city that can also feel inviting like a small town.
Fun Fact: Did you know that bicycles outnumber people in Amsterdam?

I recommend visiting Amsterdam while in the Netherlands to feel the history of the city in contrast to its more modern cousin, Rotterdam.

Hostels offer a combination of affordability, social atmosphere, cultural exchange, and convenience that makes them an appealing choice for many travelers, particularly those seeking a vibrant and immersive travel experience. Compared to hotels or other types of accommodations, hostels typically offer lower prices, especially for dormitory-style rooms where multiple travelers share a room. Hostels typically include common areas such as lounges, kitchens, and communal spaces provide opportunities to meet people from different backgrounds, share experiences, and make new friends.

Enjoy this Guide from an Amsterdam LOCAL.
I've lived in Amsterdam since 2014 and have personally curated this list with you in mind.
Whether you're looking for luxury, traditional, or budget, I've laid out these recommendations in a way where you can start with finding where you'd like to stay and go from there.
