"Gastown is considered as Vancouver's historic center, with a lot of industrial buildings dating back from the end of the 19th Century. Nowadays it's the district where you will find all the souvenir shops, as well as restaurants and other shops. It's a really cool area to stroll around with all the old brick buildings and cobbled streets! Water Street is the main one you can focus on, as well as some perpendicular streets, but avoid East Hastings Street, as this is where the homeless community of Vancouver tend to congregate and you may find that less comfortable to stroll through.
