Sedona’s red rocks are a reminder of nature’s splendor and an invitation to a world of exciting outdoor activities. Make sure before going to bed at night you take a few minutes to stargaze, it's truly incredible. Let's discover this amazing place together!

Sedona, Arizona is excruciatingly beautiful, but also quite expensive and, frankly, somewhat overhyped. As a local, I don't want you to leave disappointed. This guide includes my insights on how to do Sedona right. 

For example, some restaurants are worth the splurge. . .others aren't. Some hikes are overcrowded, but can be timed right and must not be missed. Others should be skipped altogether. Follow my insider tips and tricks to have the best Sedona vacation possible.

Sedona, Arizona: Insider Tips from a Local

For the past couple of years, Sarah, my best friend from college, and I have planned a girls trip in the winter months. It's one of my favorite weekends of the year. This year's trip was to Sedona, Arizona over the first weekend in March! 

Unfortunately, we got a little unlucky with the weather as it snowed 8 inches the night before we flew. They typically only get a couple of inches all winter so unfortunately, it meant it was too wet to hike most of the area. 

But we didn't let a little snow hold us back! We still tried a few hikes and explored the area. Here's everything we did over three days in Sedona. Everything in this guide has been tried and vetted by yours truly!

Girls Weekend in Sedona, AZ

The Hudson

The Hudson is one of my favorite restaurants ever. It has a beautiful patio overlooking the red rocks, delicious cocktails, and amazing food. The menu ranges from chopped salads, burgers, fish, chicken, ribs and steak. I recommend the blackened swordfish, which is 10/10.  It is a little pricey but worth it! Make a reservation in advanced because they book up fast. 

In a nutshelll, The Hudson serves large portions of sophisticated comfort food and in a chic, contemporary setting. Plus, you’ll get amazing views of Uptown Sedona and the red rocks beyond from any seat — especially from the patio. Mix in a great cocktail program and stellar service and you are in for a lovely lunch or dinner.
