Elevation Gain: About 608 feet
Highlights/Tips: VIews of iconic red rock formations & but will require a bit of climbing. Make sure to bring a head lamp.
Airport Mesa
Trail: Airport Loop Trail
Mileage: Approximately 3.2 miles round trip
Elevation Gain: About 200 feet
Highlights/Tips: 360-degree panoramic views of Sedona. Easily accessible (parking lot) and suitable for both sunrise and sunset hikes.
Bell Rock
Trail: Bell Rock Pathway
Mileage: Approximately 3.6 miles round trip
Elevation Gain: About 395 feet
Highlights/Tips: Prominent rock formation with easy-to-moderate hiking.
Devil’s Bridge
Trail: Devil's Bridge Trail
Mileage: Approximately 4.2 miles round trip
Elevation Gain: About 564 feet
Highlights/Tips: go early to beat the crowds.
Doe Mountain Trial
Trail: Doe Mountain Trail
Mileage: Approximately 1.4 miles round trip
Elevation Gain: About 420 feet
Highlights/Tips: Moderate hike with expansive views of Sedona and the surrounding red rocks. Perfect for watching the sun dip below the horizon.
BEST AFTERNOON HIKING TRAILS:
West Fork Trail:
Trail: West Fork Trail
Mileage: Approximately 7.2 miles round trip
Elevation Gain: Minimal
Highlights: This shaded trail follows Oak Creek and involves several creek crossings. It's particularly scenic in the afternoon light, with towering canyon walls and lush vegetation.
If you are not wanting to do the whole 7 miles, I would recommend doing 2 miles out then turn around. You will cross creeks and streams so hiking poles would be a bonus and your shoes might get wet. The parking lot is VERY small; either go early morning or around 2p. But you may have to park alongside the road and walk to the trail head. There is a $3 per person entrance fee (double check price depending on season).
Soldier Pass Trail:
Trail: Soldier Pass Trail to Brins Mesa
Mileage: Approximately 5.5 miles round trip
Elevation Gain: About 750 feet
Highlights: Features the famous Devil's Kitchen sinkhole and the Seven Sacred Pools. The afternoon sun enhances the colors of the red rocks and surrounding landscape.Very little shade on this hike, so be sure to bring a hat, lots of water and snacks.
Fay Canyon Trail:

Elevation Gain: Minimal
Mescal Trail:
Trail: Mescal Trail
Mileage: Approximately 2.4 miles loop
Elevation Gain: About 246 feet
Highlights: Offers panoramic views of the iconic red rocks, including Cathedral Rock and Courthouse Butte. The late afternoon light enhances the beauty of the rock formations.
Jordan Trail:
Trail: Jordan Trail to Brins Mesa
Mileage: Approximately 6.2 miles round trip
Elevation Gain: About 700 feet
Highlights: A less crowded trail with diverse scenery, including panoramic views of Sedona and the surrounding mountains. The afternoon sun adds depth to the landscape.
