"An extremely unique experience to visit the Long Neck Karen village. The villagers are refugees from Myanmar and visiting these villages sparks ethical concern. Why not to visit - First thought when we walked in was that the village was like a human zoo as you have to pay THB300 entrance fee to a Thai local staff. The villagers also seem very accustomed to tourists as they would smile or sit up straight whenever you pass by. They have souvenirs outside their houses but they won't ask you to buy them unless you walk near and show interest. Why visit - We talked with the villagers and they are happy with tourists visiting because selling souvenirs is a vital source of income. They are also holding refugee status and their freedom is restricted, including employment. "

"Debatable if this is a human zoo as the point is to come see the long neck Karen ladies. Itโ€™s a cultural experience for sure and interesting to see another culture and support these ladies. "

"A very authentic experiences that should definitely be on your list - a tribal village whose women wear stacked brass rings on their necks & sell handmade crafts."
