" The elusive bright blue waterfall that used to be one of Iceland's best kept secrets. It's still absolutely stunning, even though it's not so much a hidden gem an longer. The only trouble now is the amount of time and effort it takes to see it with your own eyes! ***NOTE: the "old" access is CLOSED. The directions found on old blogs take you through a private guesthouse area which is currently considered trespassing.  Time: 3 hours round trip hiking Rating: 10/5 Crowds: moderate Vehicle: The road to the parking lot is accessible all year. Parking: medium sized lot - free to park.  Directions: As you'er driving on 37, you will drive across a bridge just past Efstidalur farm. After the bridge, park in the small lot on your LEFT. Hike along the EAST bank of the river until you reach Brúarfoss. Seasonal: I would not suggest doing this hike in the winter. The snow would make the hike extremely long, and there are parts of the hike that are close to the river bank meaning one slip could be dangerous. Amenities: none Pro-tip: The trail can get EXTREMELY muddy so be prepared to have to swap out your footwear after this one!  More info: Along the walk you will come across TWO additional waterfalls which are stunning and equally as impressive!"

"💎 Start day 2 with the bluest and prettiest waterfall in Iceland. Can you believe that most people miss this Hidden Gem!! 📍LOCATION: From the parking lot, its a 3.5 km hike to the waterfall. 👉 Follow the trail, most of it meanders along the brilliantly blue Brúara river. 💦 You’ll pass two smaller waterfalls along the way. 🥾 This is a relatively easy hike, in total 7km (4.4 miles) there and back. 🌼 In the summer, the trail is flooded with wildflowers. 🥾 In the spring, the trail can be muddy. ❄️ In the winter, use caution as the trail might be icy, making it dangerous. 💦 At Brúarfoss, there is a bridge crossing the river, which is a perfect spot to take photos. 📸 PHOTOGRAPHY NOTES: Classic shots are taken from the bridge. 📸 There’s a nice rocky outcrop behind the bridge, where you can stand and have someone take your picture! ⏰ Hours: Always open 💰 Cost: Free ❄️ SEASONAL NOTES: 🚗 While you don't need a 4x4 to reach the parking lot, the trail can be icy and dangerous. 🚧 Just remember, the waterfall is a bit more remote, so use caution in off-season. "2. Brúarfoss stop (hidden gem) – even this stop is not among the 3 mandatory Golden Circle stops, but it is definitely worth it! - a short walk from the paid parking lot 750 ISK (approx. 5 euros) , which is reached by a dusty, dirt road (we went here in the winter and it was fine), you will reach this small but beautiful waterfall with a specific shape , with the clearest, "turquoise" water we've seen in Iceland - It's a really beautiful place and we spent much more time here than planned, because we couldn´t get enough ot its beauty"
