Chai Lai Orchid Eco Lodge and Cafe

"I would recommend staying here for one night in Chiang Mai. Unfortunately this reserve is away from the main city (by about an hour and 1/2), but it is truly so magical and one of a kind. It is an elephant sanctuary where the elephants roam and can even come right up to your room. If you're not interested in staying here, I would suggest grabbing a taxi and heading up to this sanctuary for a day. They do day tours of the sanctuary, OR you can hire a photographer (which essentially gives you access to the site for a shorter amount of time, and some beautiful photos in the process.)
