"Located in the remote town of Gadmen, Switzerland, the Trift Bridge spans 170 meters across the Trift Gorge at a height of 100 meters. Despite its secluded location, this hidden gem offers an unforgettable adventure for those willing to make the journey.
Getting to the Trift Bridge is no small feat. From Zurich, I embarked on a 3-hour journey involving three trains, one bus, and one cable car (Zurich-Luzern-Merrigen-Innerkirchen Grimseltor-Triftbahn). Though the trip drained my energy, the anticipation only fueled my excitement.
The adventure begins at the Nessental cable car station, where a vibrant red gondola transports you up the mountainside, offering breathtaking views of lush forests, meandering rivers, and cascading waterfalls. The hike to the bridge itself is relatively easy, winding through verdant landscapes with babbling brooks, and typically takes about an hour.
However, crossing the bridge is a different story. The gusty winds can be formidable, and the bridge’s slight sway can make the 170-meter journey feel much longer. It’s essential to be considerate of others on the narrow bridge, allowing space for those returning from the opposite side.
Once across, the reward is immense. The expansive glacier unfolds before you, a majestic reminder of nature’s grandeur. Yet, it’s sobering to witness the effects of global warming, as parts of the glacier have begun to recede. #StopGlobalWarming
For the more adventurous hiker, the journey doesn’t end at the bridge. Following the blue hiking signs, you can continue on, though it’s not for the inexperienced. The trail promises further exploration, though its destination remains a mystery to those unaccustomed to its challenges."

"This hike was one of our favorites! It will take you about 2-3 hours of hiking round trip from the Triftbahn summit station!
It’s a pretty moderate hike with quite a bit of uphill on a rocky trail so make sure you wear good hiking shoes. The suspension bridge is SO epic once you get there!
The hike itself is around 3.4 miles round trip with about 1300ft of elevation gain so it is moderately steep. Bring lots of water!"

"You have to take a gondola to reach the trailhead for this hike. The ride back down is by time slot so pay attention to your ticket. The hike up to the bridge/glacier has quite a bit of elevation gain. There is also a lodge you can camp in near the bridge. "
