Hello!

I have traveled Portugal for a month as a vegan/vegetarian and have been amazed by the quality and plethora of dining options available.

It is widely known that Lisbon, Portugal, is one of the top 5 most vegan friendly cities in the world; but beyond the capital city, there is an abundance of meat-free cuisine. 

Here is a guide to all of the best vegan and vegetarian spots to try across Portugal. The locations with reviews have been personally visited by me. 

Disclaimer: not all of these venues are exclusively vegan or vegetarian, but all have, at least, a healthy amount of meat-less options on their menu.

Portugal’s bustling cities have got you covered with an array of mouth-watering vegan options. I also have a couple of vegan food tours and a market that is for eco conscious vegans that want some snacks or to try on the latest in vegan shoes. You could stay in Lisbon for a month and never get through all of these tasty spots.

The Food temple is a cozy vegan tapas restaurant, located in the heart of Mouraria. Pioneer of plant-based cuisine in Lisbon, this little institution offers a seasonal menu, a sizeable selection of portuguese craft beer, as well as natural wines brought in mainly from local winemakers. Summer time lends itself to casual seating on the charming stairs of our neighbourhood square. The friendly atmosphere, service & food will make you feel at home! Open for lunch and dinner.

Belly full, heart full is their motto. A hidden vegan gem in the historic Mouraria neighborhood, offering an ever-changing menu of seasonal dishes, local craft beverages, natural wines, kombucha, and refreshing house-made juices.

is on the steps of one of the most picturesque spots in Mouraria.

A meeting point between different cultures with dishes, snacks and desserts prepared with lots of greens and healthy ingredients.

Part of the "old guard" of vegan restaurants in Lisbon, this place opened 10 years ago. Asian inspired dishes and a nice variety of starters.

Try the tasting menu. It's an incredible value at $28 Euros. Not open on Monday.
