"Merida is a surprisingly big city and has started offering a reliable transportation system recently. It is AMAZING as it is very modern and comfortable, however it may be crowded and there might not be great hours as it is brand new. We recommend you use Uber to get around the city since it is not expensive. For example a ride from Merida to Progreso which is 40 mins away will cost you around 15-20 dollars at most"

"Located on the northern tip of the Yucatan Peninsula, Merida is a great option if you're looking to be on the Yucatan, but to have some more classic Mexican culture than the Mayan Riviera. Merida is a little bit inland, but gives you easy access to the beach for a day trip. You also can check out nearby cenotes."

"It's a nice city but if you run short time or you want to spent more days in an other city, go for it.
