"Upon landing in Iceland we hopped onto a shutt bus at the airport and went to the rental office to collect our car. The crowd comes in with the planes so expect some waiting time as everyone is also doing the same. After collecting your car make sure to check all features and functions so you can check with the staff if anything is amiss, it'll be a hassle to head back if you discover an issue later. We ended up having to change a car because one of the seatbelts was stuck. It cost us about USD 1312 for 10 days. We also got full insurance which we recommend because the hail stones can be quite damaging, ours in fact made a tiny crack in our windshield. Thankfully because of our insurance we were covered and could leave the car and head off smoothly. Driving in Iceland is safe! There was one part in our trip when the winds were too strong and we had to be extra cautious opening doors of fear they would be broken and teared down by the wind. Other than that drivers are safe and its a peaceful drive. "

"There are plenty of car rental options at Keflavík Airport. Blue Car Rental is my favorite because everything is included in the quoted price (insurance, mileage, winter tires, etc.). They also have an office in Reykjavík, which makes one-way rentals a breeze if you don’t need a vehicle the entire trip. At KEF, a shuttle bus outside of customs quickly connects arrivals to the car-rental area."

"🚗 Blue Car is an Icelandic Rental Car Company. I've rented from them several times and had good service. 🚶Their pick-up location is an 8-10 minute walk from the terminal. 🚌 Alternatively, you can catch the rental car shuttle, which picks up from a spot not far from the door you'd exit for the Flybus. NOTE: Blue Car also has a location in Reykjavik by the harbour. Details below. "
