"I consider this place a must when visiting Athens! For it's stunning view of the Acropolis as well as the central role it has played in Greek history. The hill itself is full of historical significance, with the Prison of Socrates, the Philopappos Monument, and about a dozen pockets a ancient ruins marked all over the grounds. Additionally, this hill is alive with current cultural significance, being the home of the Holy Church of Saint Demetrios Loumbardiaris, the most popular spot for kite flying every year on Καθαρά Δευτέρα (Clean Monday), and my personal favorite spot to watch the Easter fireworks!"

"Nestled in the heart of Athens’ city center overlooking the Parthenon, Philopappos Hill is definitely one of the must-visit places. Aside from the Philopappos monument, the hill is dotted with archaeological sites that are scattered among pints and quaint alleys composing the unique scenery of the noteworthy Hill of the Muses. Philopappos Hill is an ideal place for both a relaxing evening stroll and an interesting touchpoint with the city’s rich history."

"On the hill, you will find a namesake monument, dedicated to Gaius Julius Antiochus Epiphanes Philopappos and it was built during the 2nd century B.C. Around the 5th century B.C. it was known as the Hill of the Muses and the sanctuary was dedicated to Musaeus, a famous poet and prophet in Ancient Athens. From up the hill, you get a view of the city all the way to the sea."
