Croatia in 14 days, Ultimate itinerary 

Montenegro is probably the MOST underrated European country. Located in the Balkans by the Adriatic sea, most people would choose Croatia or Greece over Montenegro.

Why pick Montenegro instead? Because it's way less touristic and cheaper than its neighbors. And despite its small size, it has it all! From picturesque coastlines with centuries old towns to Alpine mountains and waterlily filled lakes, Montenegro doesn't disappoint.

And because of its small size, it's possible to see its highlights in 7 days, from North to South.
This guide is best suited for road trip enthusiasts and avid travelers who want to see as much as possible in a limited time and on a budget. There is little time for relaxation, expect to be exploring and driving every day (on average 3 hours per day), but it will be absolutely worth it!

For convenience reasons, this itinerary starts and ends in Dubrovnik, Croatia, right at the border with Montenegro.

The Ultimate Montenegro 7-days road trip

I fell in love with this city last year and it breaks my heart I couldn't visit again in 2023. Nevertheless, I am here to share with you my favourite things to do, eat, where to stay, etc! I was lucky enough to meet a local (sailor) so he showed me what locals ate and also took me out on a sunset cruise to the Blue Caves.

If you’re a fan of Game of Thrones (GOT), then you’re in the right city! There are plenty of filming locations here that you will recognise, as well as on nearby Lokrum island. There are several different walking tours through the old town, including GOT themed ones.

Dubrovnik Cable Car

Dubrovnik is a city that you can also enjoy from above thanks to the cable car! It gives you a whole different perspective of the old town.
Tickets are 27€ round trip or 15€ one way. I personally chose to take a one way ticket and walk down on foot. You can also choose to walk up, but the trail is particularly steep and unshaded, but I thought this was enough hiking switchbacks for the trip! The way down is not too bad though.

I didn't get to do this unfortunately, but I have heard wonderful things, I mean look at the pictures! You can get a one way or a return for the best views of Dubrovnik

Hopefully you’re not afraid of heights. This cable car brings you up the hill to the Panorama Restaurant. 

Take a ride up to Mount Srđ for breathtaking views of Dubrovnik and the surrounding islands.

The cable car costs €27 for a round trip or €15 for a one-way ticket.
