"This theatre was built back to its original plans, made almost entirely out of wood, after being bombed in WWII. Before it was common to put the orchestra pit below the stage, the great Monteverdi was frustrated by the theatre's acoustic problems before its inaugural event in 1628, and so he was forced to put his orchestra in a pit below the stage – well before 19th-century composer Wagner established this modern practice. The stage is accessed via Galleria Nazionale."

"One of the first moderns styel theaters in the world! Largely recreated - much of it was damaged from WWII bombing.
It’s part of the Palazzo della pilotta, meaning it’s a combo ticket for this several small museums within the historic fortress! "
