1. day: Parma

A city in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy, on the Parma River, northwest of Bologna.

Best known for its incredible contribution to world gastronomy, an important rail and road hub on the main routes from Milan to Bologna (which is an advantage if you're traveling by train - you can easily get there in less than 3 hours from Milan or Bologna airports).

Parma has an 11th century cathedral (which you can't miss) and many other wonderful sights. You can easily see the historic center in one day.

Parmigiano Reggiano - a factory visit and tasting

We decided to visit one of Parma's famous cheese factories so we booked a tour online (If you only have a few days in the region and want to see how they make the famous parmigiano, I highly recommend making a reservation online).

Caseificio Ugolotti - family business, a great English tour which ended with a tasting of delicious cheeses and also with the possibility to buy their cheese.

Price: 20 euros/person, duration: an hour and a half 🧀

2. day: Modena

The modern city, which includes residential and industrial areas, extends away from the city walls. The highlight is the automotive industry - Enzo Ferrari Museum (must see if you're a fan). You will also find many balsamic showrooms and shops here.

In addition, only half an hour by train from Parma, a small historic city, great for a day visit / half day.

3. day - Reggio Emilia

Known as the city of the tricolor flag because the Italian flag was first adopted here in 1797. An often overlooked center on the Emilia-Romagna gastronomic route, Reggio Emilia provides a taste of authentic provincial life. Reggio Emilia is also a city of art, the symbols of which are the 17th-century Basilica della Ghiara and the famous Teatro Municipale Valli.

This city has a romantic atmosphere and I enjoyed this city the most.

4. day: Bologna

Bologna is the largest city (and the capital) of the Emilia-Romagna Region in Northern Italy.

An important cultural and artistic center, the importance of which in terms of landmarks can be attributed to the varied mixture of monuments and architectural examples (medieval towers, ancient buildings, churches, the layout of its historic center). Bologna is also an important transport hub for the roads and trains of northern Italy.
