Rising majestically from the earth, this iconic rock formation stands as a testament to the raw power of nature and the enduring beauty of the Scottish Highlands. As hikers ascend the slopes, they are treated to panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, with the Old Man looming overhead like a silent sentinel guarding the landscape. Steeped in myth and legend, the Old Man of Storr has captured the imagination of travelers for centuries, inspiring tales of giants and ancient spirits. Today, it remains a popular destination for adventurers and photographers seeking to witness its awe-inspiring beauty firsthand. Whether gazing up at the towering cliffs or exploring the mystical landscapes that surround it, a visit to the Old Man of Storr promises an unforgettable journey through the heart of the Scottish Highlands."
"I would HIGHLY recommend this hike. This was my favourite hike in Scotland BY FAR! It is known as the Old Man of Storr and legend has it the rocks sticking out and suppose to be a giant's thumb. This hike was short but steep. We didn't do the whole loop but walked up the hill (which took around 40 minutes), explored the peaks and then walked back down the same trail. I would say we spent 2-3 hours hiking and exploring this area. "
"This is a Skye must-do, but the hike is pretty intense. Be prepared to go slow and take a rain jacket as the weather can change very quickly. There is plenty of paid parking and bathrooms at the base of the trail. Rangers regularly traverse the trail, so there is usually someone around to lend you a hand or answer questions. The views truly are incredible. "
