"Jökulsárlón might be the most-famous glacial lagoon in Vatnajökull National Park, but it isn't the only one that's easily accessible. A second one is just 10 minutes to the west.
Fjallsárlón is smaller than Jökulsárlón, but it's still pretty impressive. The glacial lake sits at the base of Fjallsjökull, an outlet glacier of mighty Vatnajökull, Europe's largest glacier outside of the Arctic. The lagoon is where icebergs of all sizes break off the glacier and lazily drift across the water.
It's a lot more relaxed at Fjallsárlón than Jökulsárlón. The parking lot is free. The walk to the viewpoint isn't crowded. Zodiac boats, which can get you up close to the glacier, are small. There's even a restaurant with soup, sandwiches, and buffet-style meals, as well public restrooms.
The only things you really have to worry about are the skuas. The seabirds nest here during the summer. If you get too close to their eggs, they'll dive bomb you. Better to stay away. You should be focusing on the groaning icebergs anyway."

"Fjallsárlón is a stunning glacier lagoon right next to the more popular Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. We did not see any glaciers at Jökulsárlón, but we thankfully got to see way more here. It features floating icebergs and breathtaking views of the surrounding glacier. It offered a serene and intimate experience. We got really up close to the glaciers and could even touch the glaciers! Best experience ever and by far my favourite part of the whole trip. "

"Fjallsarlon is a glacial lagoon, much lesser known than the Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon but in many ways in more photogenic. The lagoon is smaller but that means you're closer to the glacier face, which tumbles down the steep mountainside setting where amazing icebergs adrift in the lagoon. Unlike Jokulsarlon, there is no tide into Fjallsarlon, so the icebergs melt slower and don't turn as often.
30 minutes to 1 hour to explore."
