"The Basílica and Convent of San Francisco in Lima is one of the most fascinating places I visited. It’s known for its beautiful colonial architecture, but what really drew me in were the eerie catacombs beneath the church. A guided tour is a must here because you’ll learn so much about the history and significance of the convent, from its stunning library filled with ancient books to the underground tunnels that were once used as a burial site. Walking through the catacombs was surreal—it’s a bit spooky but incredibly interesting! Pro tip: Wear comfy shoes because you’ll be doing a bit of walking, and bring a jacket since it can get chilly underground. Also, don’t forget to look up—the ceilings and artwork in the church are absolutely breathtaking. It’s a perfect blend of history, art, and a bit of mystery!"

"The Basilica y convento de San Francisco (Saint Francis Monastery) has some great grounds that include an impressive library and even catacombs. Part of the Lima highlights is visiting the Monastery’s catacombs and the underground vaults that were used until the early 19th century as a resting place for members of fraternities; these have possibly had about 25,000 bodies. Once inside the Church, another site you will want to go to is the historic library that holds about 25,000 antique texts, some of which date back to the times before the Spanish Conquest."

" Visit the San Francisco church. The underground tunnels lead to catacombs that served as cemetery and still contain bones and skulls."
