After arriving in Lima, make your way to your hotel. Settle in and rest well, so that you are ready for the adventures ahead. Peru has won the “Best Culinary Destination Award” many times. Reasons for this are the fusion cooking involving indigenous ingredients and unique cooking methods. Especially the capital is home to outstanding Michelin-starred restaurants, using ingredients from all the country’s regions. Start with trying some!
Miraflores and San Isidro, are the modern districts of Lima where your hotel is located. El Malecón is a six-mile stretch of parks situated along the cliffs high above the Pacific Ocean, including Parque del Amor (Love Park). Food and shopping megacomplex Larcomar has an amazing view from the cliffs along the coast.
You can explore the historic center on foot. On the Plaza Mayor you can watch the changing of the guard at the Presidential Palace around noon and visit the cathedral. We visited the San Francisco church. The underground tunnels lead to catacombs that served as cemetery and still contain bones and skulls.
