"Hwaseomun is the northwest gate of Hwaseong Fortress, built in 1796 and featuring a stone arch, wooden pavilion, and semi-circular brick wall for defense. As one of the fortress's four gates, it holds historical significance with names of its builders inscribed on the stone wall. Designated as Treasure No. 403 in 1964, it underwent minor repairs in 1975. The view of Hwaseomun alongside the nearby Northwestern Watchtower is a must-see for visitors."

"This spot in Suwon's Hwaseong Fortress takes you back to the late 1700s when King Jeongjo was in charge.
This gate was built to protect the fortress and allowed the army to keep a lookout for enemies."
