" This pyramid shaped mountain has been awarded the most photographed mountain in Iceland. It's not hard to see why! Kirkjufell is the crown jewel of the Snæfellsnes peninsula and a must see location. In my opinion, it looks like the sorting hat from Harry Potter - anyone else? Time: 30 minutes-1 hour Rating: 5/5 Crowds: busy Vehicle: all accessible Parking: medium lot - free Amenities: none Photo gear: a tripod and ND filter are necessary if you want to get silky waterfalls! Views: park in the lot and follow the path until you reach the waterfalls - the classic shot is there looking towards the mountain. You can also follow the path down to get closer to the falls and a different perspective. Pro-tip: keep walking past the crowds until you reach the lake - there you will find my favorite photo op and a unique view at Kirkjufell. I've marked it on the map for convenience. Seasonal: You WILL need crampons November-March as the paths get very slippery due to the spray from the waterfall."

"Kirkjufell is one of Iceland's iconic landmarks and it certainly lives up to the hype! A short distance away from Kirkjufell is Kirkjufellsfoss, a beautiful waterfall that lines up perfectly with Kirkjufell for an incredible view. Plentiful parking is available right at the waterfall, but it is paid. The waterfall is just a short walk down from the parking lot, and you can also walk across the road to Kirkjufell to hike up. Cost: Free Parking: $5.30 parking in the main parking lot for Kirkjufell/Kirkjufellsfoss"

"Kirkjufell, or 'Church Mountain', is a distinctly shaped peak found on the north shore of Iceland’s Snæfellsnes Peninsula, only a short distance away from the town of Grundarfjörður. It is often called ‘the most photographed mountain in Iceland’ due to its dramatic formation and perfect coastal location."
